Of all the potential opponents it would be great to get a non victorian side in the granny. If we win this year then my optimistic predictions are probably too low.

I feel we're entering the Freo Purple Paradox. After today we are rightly optimistic, expectant even. However, we have repeatedly shown to not be able to deal with expectancy (to either win or lose). Therefore, whilst today should fill me with glee, this realisation has instead left me with a sense of existential dread...

I completely understand this line of thinking. I also think this team is maturing through this issue. We are young so we will have bad days, however, we also have a tonne of talent on every line. Our team is stacked!
Squiggle is impartial for sure, although it does love a flat track bully. Loves the Swans because they beat most teams by 5 goals.

I think it is the percentage piece and ability to score. I agree that is tends to love the flat track bullies a bit much. I am also looking forward to smashing teams a handful of times a year.
Squiggle is all about outdoing expectations which is why it loves smashings. It also notices that most of our wins are "comfortable" 20+ ones where as the footy public probably hasn't.
I think you'll see plenty of those smashing in the next 5-10 years.

As I have been saying... the decade of dominance has begun! We are going to obliterate teams and have games were we win by ten goals only scoring 100 points.
Youngest 23 in the AFL this week (and touching wood like only a Dockers supporter knows how to...BUT), of those 23 I can only see Wags, O'Meara and Switta (if he requests a trade EOY) probably not giving us 100, 200 or even 300 (for a good handful) games when it's all said and done.
If this team can win just one flag, we'll have a whole crop of father-sons in 20 odd years just dying to play in the purple.
These kids will have listened to a young life's worth of war stories, sat starry-eyed through reunion (after reunion) and had their Dads sent beers from across restaurants in the most far flung places, by mystery punters who acknowledge the gift with only a knowing grin and reverent tip of the hat.
What a time to be alive.

Pies are playing finals at a minimum. I think best case is they lose a semi. That would still be a great result for Schultz tbf.

Yeah they are still too good to lose to a 5-8 side in a final anywhere and they are the team I want to play least in a final, but they are not quite the same team as last year even if they have done well to stay in it through the middle of the year.

Squiggle isn't great week to week or at the beginning of seasons, but it's good for a long term trend and 15 games is long enough for it to know the Bombers are pretenders (to be fair, I think many of their fans agree).
Also why its exciting as it thinks we're actually good.

Based purely on scores for and against Essendon look like a bottom six or seven team. It will be interesting to see how they finish the year. I expect us to beat them at Marvel by 5 goals.
