Etymology of the name Collingwood comes from a combo of old Norse and English words, ‘calenge’ meaning challenge and ‘Wode‘ meaning wood or forest. Together the words are believed to mean ‘wood of challenged ownership’. Interesting given we are discussing the possibility of an indigenous name for Sir Doug Nicholls round.
Personally I would not have a problem with the suggestion. A beanie or scarf with both Collingwood and the indigenous name on it would be nice.
