Reckon we'll go out in straight sets?

We couldn't beat Geelong at their home ground when we lost a key player for our structure in the 1st, played a kid not really up to the level (C.Ellis) and played Soldo simply to keep Nank rested for finals. The umpires also found their voice like never before.

I think Geelong are a good team and obviously are a better outfit than the one we played but we have a gameplan designed for the MCG.

Sydney are meh, we should have smashed them earlier in the year and just fell short of ending their night early. Our kicking at goal has been better recently so if we did play them I'd back us.
we lost caddy, who is important. they were missing hawkins, who is significantly more important, let alone missing selwod who is a straight up better player and duncan who is pretty good. they also played a handful of kids that have since been dropped for being shit.

as for sydney, that is just straight up idiotic. sydney are significantly better than meh, and are by some margin the in form team of the comp at the moment. to dismiss them as meh shows you need to seriously question your judgement and pretty much invalidates your rating of teams.

Hi guys.

Geelong are 3-2 at the MCG this year. 2 of those wins were against us, we put up no opposition in the first game (early in the year when we were struggling) & should've won the second after Smith missed a kick on the siren. Collingwood beat them there once but it should've been twice.

My point is away from their Cheat Ground Geelong are totally gettable. They are slow as **** and can't defend the width of the MCG against teams with legspeed (ie. not Hawthorn), and have close to the worst record in the comp coming off a bye. They also have a few inexperienced kids these days along with putrid depth, and rely hideously on Dangerwood, Duncan & Porkins.
You can totally beat these pretenders if you turn up and apply your best pressure. Geelong fans have been by far the most disgustingly arrogant twats in the league this year and supporters of 16 other teams will thank you for giving this team of uppity flogs the spanking they so richly deserve.

You can do it Richmond, you just need to believe in yourselves. :)

To add to this our record at the G this year has been really good. Both losses were games we choked and should have won. The biggest loss was sydney by 10 points or whatever. I think we will at least make it close.

The way I look at it, it was only three close losses in 2012 that saw us miss the eight and the fact that we have climbed the ladder has as much as anything to do with the decline of the likes of Hawthorn and Fremantle and some of the other teams, such as Gold Coast, Collingwood, and Melbourne, not coming on as expected.
No it really has little do with that. We play well, so we make finals. Theres always good teams and bad teams, everyone plays the same teams.

I'm not complaining about being in a position where Geelong, Sydney, and Adelaide are really all that stand between us and a premiership. I think, particularly on the back of more consistent performances from Dustin Martin, we have improved a little but a big part of it has been the decline of Hawthorn, Fremantle, West Coast, and Footscray, who have occupied 70% of Grand Final spots in the last five years.

Unfortunately, yes I do.

There's reason to be optimistic about this Tigers side, but we just simply aren't a better team than Geelong or Sydney.

GWS I would have backed us in to beat anywhere, and Geelong I think we will take it right up to but fall short.

Sydney @ the MCG is an interesting one, but I just can't find any genuine confidence after all our previous finals.

Prove me wrong Tiges.

No.
The stars are aligning
The ducks are lining up

The boys are playing with a confidence I have not seen in years.

We have depth. Depth!

We have bugger all injuries

We have elite players at the top of their game.

Keeping a lid on it but the potential is there this year.

Nothing surer than a Tomic-like performance.

Will be having money on it.

(Purely a superstitious post).

The cats are soft in the jocks and afraid because they know they don't have their provincial ground they can cheat on.

Ignore the doubters; they have bigger problems to deal with than football and we forgive them.

It's our year, enjoy the ride and get some swagger happening!

Before round one if you could have had a wish it would be for us to get the double chance and to play our first final at the MCG. It doesn't get any better than that.

This is the business end, the also rans are gone and those remaining are there to bleed for the premiership. We have as much chance as any of the others in the top 4 and more chance than any in the bottom 4.

Those playing against us are just as afraid of us as we are of them lol.

There is no place for our historic skepticism or the expectation of failure.

You can ride in the wagon feeling the bumps feeling the devastation if we fall short but experiencing the ecstasy if we win ... or you can sit on the side, saying I told you so if we fail but not fully experiencing the exhilaration if we win.

I know the difference!

Its a give away on my vintage but I was a manic Richmond supporter even as a kid, i would listen to every game on the radio and calculate all the percentages before the news. I lived and breathed Richmond through a period of dominance.

1972 was my year, I rode every bump, I was totally distraught when we lost to Carlton. I swore I would never ever again let my emotions guide me, and I never have. It meant I did not fully experience the joy of the back to back 73/74 premierships or the 1980 premiership ... I was never going to let myself hurt that much again.

You can be like the 1972 me and dare to dream and risk disappointment or you can be the sad skeptic I am now who wont hurt if we go out in straight sets but also will not get to ride the high if we win.

Dare to dream.

Hey, we very well could go out in straight sets and it wouldn't be anything to be ashamed of (assuming we faced Sydney after the Cats). Two battled-hardened teams, one that has owned us for over a decade and the other last year's minor premiers who have stormed home after a slow start. We'll have done very well to best either of these teams, and if we lose both, we've still done well to have the season we've had. Dusty will sign, we'll bring in some more talent, the multitude of young guys we've uncovered in the past 2 seasons will continue to develop and we'll be thereabouts for the next decade.

That's a good testimony as I have similarities with what you say except I will be ecstatic as ecstatic can be . How high that will be I will never know as it's been so long.

Reckon we'll beat GeeLOL, we'll worry about the next one after that. Choosing to apply the old boring cliche of 'one week at a time'.

They won't know what has hit them with our pressure and playing in front 95,000 loud fans at the much wider 'G. and if we can get some fair and impartial umpiring, I think we'll do them comfortably.
