so what your really saying is
paul white- recruited from left of no where and we are hoping that the l;eague he was playing in didnt include the disabled.
paul rattray- hoping that the towns he stated he kicked goals against actually exist cause we're f%$#&d if we can find them on the map
brendan murphy- not even we believe that 3rd division efl is any good but hes keen for a kick with us so we'll throw him in on our incredible recruitment coup list cause it will make it look longer.
robbie ahmat- played afl in 1991 for about 5 minutes
daniel noorman- 5'7 vegie who will struggle but again lengthens our recruitment crop list.

Any reports from the game McAvity see in the reaults White was in the best and Rattray kicked 5. Muir only the one????

I can confirm that White is a quality player. Wiry, strong, highly skilled mid fielder who can get his own ball. He'll trouble plenty. Rattray will also cause some grief for opposition sides if he gets regular quality supply from his mid field. Muir was injured early on, hence just the one goal today.

Warby played an impressive, high intensity brand of footy. They certainly caught us on the hop in the first half. They took control of the game around half way though the first and smashed us in the 2nd 1/4 by the tune of 7 goals to 1, and went in at 1/2 time with a 46 point lead.

We were able to regroup after 1/2 time, kicking 12.12 to 6.6 after the half. Gembrook hit the front with about 4 minutes to play, but Warby were able to reply with less than 2 minutes remaining to regain the lead and win the game.

A high quality entertaining game. You'd expect both sides to be around the mark this year, based on today's performances.

Well...if White continues to perform at the level he did today, then you'd have to think he'd be considered. As for our newbies; "Sauce" Brown was probably our best defender today, and I think was named second best for us. Campbell kicked 5.6 - would have been handy if it had been 6.5, but that's footy. Jeremy Everett had a solid game supporting Craig Clarke in the ruck.

To be honest, you'd have to say that Warby deserved the win, having comprehensively outplayed us in the 1st 1/2 and having led for almost the entire game. For our part, I hope our guys learned some things about their own games that we can use to our advantage in the coming weeks.

Well played Warby.

Interesting summary McCavity - agree with everything bar your assessment of White and Rattray. If White was BOG i was at a different game. A lot of hype that caught a few a bit excited. Rattray had 5 kicks for the day for 5 goals including an unbelievable snap from the boundary with a minute to play that won the game. Took 2 marks and was well held by Brown. He is deadly by boot and will hurt sides if given a few chances.

Warby were quality though and will finish top 3. Well drilled and applied the 18 man press all day with success. As for the two's, i will be surprised if they get beaten this season. Runners up last year and 6 regular seniors now playing the early game.

Well done Warby - all sides be on notice.... They have the goods...

I didn't say that I thought White was BOG. I just stated what I thought of White was as a player. You've hurt my feelings.:(
Agree about the Warby 2's. A very disciplined outfit.

Very high standard of game yesterday. Our boys blew the game apart in the first half and looked like we had Gembrook on the ropes. Losing Muir, McKail and Terry Walker before half time cost us rotations and hurt our run in the second half and against a quality side like Gembrook your always going to pay for that.In the end we were probably lucky to hang on but after so many narrow losses last season it was good for the young blokes to hang on and win. Few were in line for BOG but wasnt suprised that White got it as he dominated the clearances and did a heap of the in and under grunt work.

Jeremy Everett had a solid game supporting Craig Clarke in the ruck.

Didn't realise Gembrook ended up getting him back. I know they were keen on him and with 1 or 2 others coming from pakenham were in with a shot. But I had heard despite being slightly disillusioned with Pakys coach was going to stick it out. Will be a very handy player this year particularly with Clarke still around

Rattray kicks 5 great goals on saturday to win the game for Warby and they dont put him in the best 6.Trying to keep him under the radar? No hope of that.Warby look to be the benchmark side this year. You will need to be on your game to beat them.:cool:

I too was an interested onlooker on Saturday. I agree with Red Hot Tip regarding Rattray will cause some headaches this year. Talking to a few of the locals he hasnt even trained yet so is little underdone. He is a magic kick and if he gets a few more touches expect his goal tally to go up. In relation to BOG it could have gone to any number of players from either team. I thought big Clarke started dominating the ruck when Gembrook got a run on, Little Clark at his feet played a good game and one of the Brookers backmen i think it was number 21 (long dark hair) also played well. For the burras was also impressed with number 12 (Coglan i think). As for the BOG medal it is voted on by the coaches i am lead to believe so i am sure they would have got it right. Who did you think was best RHT?

Nice summary. I heard that Rattray also had a flu and was out of puff early on. I thought clearly that Kurt Henderson was BOG - the CHB - he kept Main fairly quiet and managed to zone off a lot and drop into the hole in front of Campbell. Walker was also very good i thought.

You must be wrapped with the form though Broken bone. Looks like an exciting year for the Warby Boys...

Fair Call. I am not associated with either club but thought it would be the game of the round with the most interest. Gembrook once they got going looked very dangerous and that was without Shipp (Hope he can get back sooner rather than later dont want our best players out for too long). I think the Brookers will still be the onces to beat but agreed Warby should have some excitment this year. However with a few injuries not sure about their depth.

He's a bit underated Henderson, doesn't look like a footballing machine but he's a pretty strong man and does the job required.

Mt.Ev by 5 goals on sunday. Heard Smith didn't play (absolute jet) and also heard Benny Farrugia didn't play and is not real well. Reasons can remain anonymous ! If you're reading BF, hope all is well.

Smith played and was best on the ground. Was a quality game to watch with a massive crowd in attendance. Mt Evelyn are going to be a good side but wandin more than held there own, they will win they're fair share of games.

Heard that farrugia, buckland & tesseiero amongst others didn't play. That's 3 of their best 8 IMO. Not sure how much footy buckland will play heard work may interfere.

Hey tees what was the run down with ur game. How did upwey look. What was their new recruits like. See porter only kicked 1 was he well held or did he injure himself. What about u blokes - happy with the kids?

i heard that rattray only had one leg and only 10% vision in one eye.
the bloke played, kicked 5, end of story. lets not turn it into some sort of exercise in martyrdom.

Here's a word for you "structure" or perhaps two "game plan"

The two teams that played of in the Ressies Grand Final last year were Monbulk & Warby yet there ones did not look like making the top 5. So they obviously had some handy footballers in the 2's but they did not make an impact on the senior team.

so u would feel better as a senior coach knowing u have 1 or 2 players in the 2's who could step up and have an impact in the seniors or 7-8 players that could step up and fill a role in the seniors???
