What a massive chance he got, I'm sure he is thankful of SA giving him those massive runs of one game a year but nothing when he is absolutely on fire with the ball in first grade or even after taking 12 for in an U23's match. No point playing him then.
Even WA thought he was crap. How many games do you need to give a guy? He has played 8, done nothing. Who cares if they were in a row, once you're in if you don't perform you're out, simple as that.

How does it reflect badly that you've got a grafter that makes runs? It doesn't, Cullen Bailey is not an example and has no relevancy. Him making runs as a middle order bat for his club, which one should expect from a guy that has made runs at first class level.
If you can't work that one out then I'm not even going to bother talking to you about this because you clearly have no idea what you are talking about and are arguing for the sake of arguing.

It is a myth because South Australia won flags previously. Tasmania won their first Shield with 7 out of 11 players being from TAS while the NSW side had 8 out of 11 being NSWelshmen. While in last year's title they were both 7/11.

If it were true, NSW and Victoria should dominate regardless because they've got the depth and strenght to replace these players who aren't good enough to play for their state and have left.
It IS NOT A MYTH. SA Won flags perviously yes, but some of those grade cricket clubs did not exist when SA won its last Sheffield Shield competition.

We all know NSW would dominate if no Australian Cricket team existed and Victoria would also be very good. Tasmania has done well, over achieved, but that still doesn't take away from the fact that in their shield runs their most important players have been interstate and some of the bit part players are Tasmanian. How can you not see that? Are you blind or ignorant? I'm going with ignorant given that you are a Hawthorn supporter.

Haha right. So that applies to bowlers only, but hey wait lets give Travis Head the world.

Cop out. You look at every grade cricket association in Australia and there will be some blokes who are average bats making runs. Cullen Bailey's batting never had him pushing for a batting spot. Saying that because he was scoring runs devalues other players? Like Nathan Hauritz score shield tons?

Way to defunct something as a myth. SA Grade cricket was only good when Norwood were involved.

Yes like that first flag where Luke Butterworth made a 50 and 100.

Now that we cannot be displaced from the top two of the RODC, does anyone think the players may get too relaxed/lazy against Victoria next Saturday knowing we're in the final?

Sadly, given our 25-year drought in this competition, I can't see us winning it. Happy to be proven wrong though.

whilst i don't know a great deal about the workings of adelaide club cricket, you don't read or hear many good things about it. seems like it a serious problem.

south australia under 19 team about a decade ago was probably the most talented under 19 team i can recall with borgas, bailey, cullen, cosgrove, ferguson, kelly and plant... plant and kelly have been massive dissapointments at first class level, and none of the others have got to their full potential.

that should have been an age group that set south australia up for a decade.

Tim Davey with 95 against QLD in Future's League. Next top scorer was Delaney. Thomas Andrews from the NT debuting, quality spinner, hope he goes well.

I agree they needed to go on with it and all, but at least Cooper and Ferguson showed some fight. We wouldn't have gotten anywhere close if they played like the rest of our team. I just think naming them and their wickets as being unacceptable but not any others, plays into the mindset that we're a two man team. I'm sure someone will say I'm accepting mediocrity or something like that, but leaving everything up to two players is never the way to go.

Smith, Klinger and Crosthwaite are the ones who should have been named.

Next game, Klinger needs to move up to open (partnering Smith) and lead the team from the front. And get rid of Crosthwaite and bring in Davey - at least he shouldn't give away his wicket. Sayers has to stick around too, as much for his batting as his bowling.

Just hope we smash the Vics on Saturday to get the home final, although as proven in recent years home ground advantage is usually non-existent.

If we bat first in the final, a score of AT LEAST 250 would be needed to stand a chance of winning, not 150-odd back in '06. Batting second we would need to restrict Tas to around 230-240, and NOT have our top order throw their wickets away like school cricket.

Regardless if we play the final at AO or not, I can't attend due to my uncles 70th. Not feeling confident about our chances. Last time we hosted the final it was a Sunday day game, but since then nearly every ODD final has been D/N. Stupid foxtel.

Hi point was more that the two of them were out within 10 minutes rather than just the fact they got out.

I got to meet Tamsyn Lewis last time we hosted a one day final. Great day.

Other than McGill getting the winning runs though.

We should be able to beat the Vics, fingers crossed.

At least yesterday we showed SOMETHING.
