Not quite re doing the draft table, but a few clubs came out on table pre draft night.

North Melbourne recieving picks 25 [Aaron Black] + 41 [Ayden Kennedy] for Josh Gibson [Hawthorn]

Sydney recieved pick 14 [Lewis Jetta] for Darren Jolly [Collingwood]

Geelong recieved pick 28 [Mitch Duncan] for Shane Mumford

Carlton recieved pick 12 [Kane Lucas] + Lachlan Henderson for Brendon Fevola + pick 27 [Callum Bartlett]

a few multi club trades involved that I can't be bothered working out. Essendon gave up Lovett and recieved a second 2nd round draft pick in which we managed to snag Jake Carlisle (pick 24) with.

Brisbane somehow recieved Amaon Buchanan and Brent Staker whilst Sydney recieved Josh Kennedy + Ben McGlynn

Some very good trading by clubs there, love the Sydney trading period here, built the foundations of last years premiership team.

Switch Cunnington and Lucas.

Re. 2009 - I'm just happy seeing Trengove regain his touch every week and Gawn and Fitzpatrick get games.

Compared to other years, the 2009 draft can be considered a success for the Dees I reckon.

Jake Carlisle would go #1, not even up for discussion. Players who can play exceptional football both in defense and up forward are extremely rare, Pavlich is the only other player still playing who could do it.

Nooooo.

Carlisle has probably played two great games up forward (and both half games).

Comparing him to Pavlich is not on.

Some very good trading by clubs there, love the Sydney trading period here, built the foundations of last years premiership team.

The interesting thing about that is how many win-win trades there were from that period.

Collingwood getting Jolly won them a premiership that they wouldn't have won otherwise (considering Fraser was on his last legs), but Sydney did very well getting Jetta and McGlynn in return, one played in a premiership and the other would have if not for injury.

Duncan for Mumford at this stage is dead even, both have been very good for their clubs and are premiership players. I suspect we may win longer term as Mummy's body may struggle and Duncan will be more durable, but right now it's a classic win win trade.

Gibson has been super for Hawthorn but North look to have a ten year player with Black.

Brisbane owned on getting Staker (despite his knee injuries) for Dalziell although that was balanced out by losing on giving away pick 28 (Duncan) for Buchanan and pick 47 (Ryan Harwood).

Essendon gave up 16 (Pittard) for Williams and 24 (Carlisle) but Carlisle is looking so good they won't mind.

Hawthorn would be very happy with the service Burgoyne has given them and likewise Geelong loved that trade, giving up 33 (Anthony Long) for 40 (Allen Christensen) and 42 (Nathan Vardy). :D

In terms of the trading/draft time Sydney did awesome, giving up Jolly Hall and Buchanan for Mumford, Kennedy, McGlynn and then drafting Reid and Jetta.

Likewise Geelong won a premiership and picked up Menzel, Duncan, Christensen and Vardy in the same year :thumbsu:

Kane Lucas better than Ben Cunnington defies belief.

Bloody decent group though. Strong and deep.

Why would anyone have Scully that high? He's an average player with a degenerative knee condition.

Nooooo.

Carlisle has probably played two great games up forward (and both half games).

Comparing him to Pavlich is not on.
He's in AA Form as a defender, and every time he's shifted forward this year, he's been taking big contested marks comfortably and is even capable of kicking goals on the run.

Didn't really compare him to Pavlich either, just said he's the only other player currently playing that can play exceptional football as a KPP at both ends.

1. Nathan Fyfe - Ripper player. Needs to get more size on him, but he's going to be unbelievable.
2. Jake Carlisle - Great FB, and just gets the nod of Martin and Talia. Versatile.
3. Dustin Martin - Breaking out again, very explosive. Shame about the off-field concerns, but he's capable of ripping games apart.
4. Daniel Talia - Very good young CHB who sould really assert himself in a few years if his body stays well.
5. Michael Barlow - Mature age draft pick, but a top line mid who other sides would love to have.
6. Lewis Jetta - Down year, but he's shown himself capable of excellent consistent footy.
7. Ben Cunnington - Like his inside attributes and the way he's been applying himself.
8. Allan Christensen - Another explosive guy whose done his due dilligence to learn off his team mates and should have a great career.
9. Jack Trengove - Finally finding a bit of touch after the public captaincy debacle. Good leader, but was thrown in too young. Good mark, set shot and clutch player.
10. Mitch Duncan - Very similar to Trengove, and only falls behind because he does it easier.

Small gap between numbers 1-5 and numbers 6-10.

If the draft was actually re-done by clubs on what they know now, it would be interesting to see how high Black would go. A freakish talent for someone who has only played 14 games and had OP for 18 months.

Could end up close to the best KPP from a draft that has already produced three beauties in Stratton, Carlisle and Talia.

Can't believe how low you have Stratton, especially as a Hawks fan. He is an absolute belter.

How is Gunston not in contention here for top 15. The guy is one of the most mobile talls in the league. Fantastic set shot, great mark, quick, and when he puts on more strength will be even better. Was worst on ground at half time against the cats, then second half comes and picks up 20 touches and a goal. So much x-factor. Easily above some on these lists.

Btw, Dustin Martin is no where near as good as Fyfe or Barlow, Fremantle rocked that draft. Morabito will be a star as well.

Well there you go, it's not up for discussion. Close the thread.
