For the curious, these are the results for first games of brand new teams in the AFL:

West Coast defeated Richmond (14 points)
Brisbane Bears defeated North Melbourne (33 points)
Adelaide defeated Hawthorn (86 points)
Fremantle defeated by Richmond (5 points)
Port Adelaide defeated by Collingwood (79 points)
Gold Coast defeated by Carlton (119 points)
GWS defeated by Sydney (63 points)

Quite obvious when the AFL/VFL changed their rules on new teams

WA and SA should get on front foot and ask for SOO with each other next year .
Ask? We should just organise it with the 4 WA/SA clubs using it as a version of a practice match. We can then offer any listed players from other states to join if they wish. That will force the AFL to take action

And yes, I did report that post, and yes it was rejected.

Call me a bitter ex-mod button masher, I'll wear it. But I would like it on record that that post has been reviewed by the moderation team of the main board and deemed acceptable.

I'll leave it at that.

The main board is trash these days but it's not that bad of a post

This is apparently acceptable on the main board now.
I can't decide whether I want us to smash Richmond in the GF, or a repeat of 18 where we belt them at home (travel is so hard) and another team knocks them out of the finals (only to lose to us in the big one).

Either way, I can't see them getting another flag.

I have to hand it to Richmond fans - Geelong and Hawthorn posters made the Main Board hell when they were up and about but each required the presence of the other. Richmond supporters manage to make every thread about Richmond all on their own. Kudos to them.

Making up 35 years of misery

So a back line containing 4 time AA McGovern, Dual AA Hurn as well as other more than handy players like Sheppard, Schofield, Jetta and Barrass is the 13th best defense according to Champion Data.

Would love to know how they measure some of these things

Edit
Even more bizarre, the Cats defence conceded the least amount of points last year and got ranked lower than us at 16th

I doubt CD would rate 1 percenters or dour defending that highly. So most of those guys would score poor. Glass for example was probably considered a pleb by their standards. It would favour high disposal rates and rebound 50s. Gov and Hurn would do well.
