Autopsy Review: Collingwood v Melbourne (37 pt loss) - That was D-Day

I just finished a heart stopping bus ride to Luang Prabang in Laos, held up for 2 hrs getting around a landslide on a steep pass, and hoped for some good news. Unfortunately it seems to be all bad news. Anyone know where I can get a replay? Sounds like we were diabolical and I haven't even got past the first page of this thread. I am heading out to get my first food for the day then back to digest the loss.!
Replay? Wouldn't bother

Who threw their footy jumper onto the MCG after the game, pretty silly?

I can't understand what makes a player handball to another player with an opposition player next to him especially when he is not under pressure and a kick was the better option. Happened so many times today.

For mine, Swan, Varcoe, Adams, Williams (although tried too hard sometimes) stood out, the rest I don't care how many possessions they got nor how many score involvements don't deserve a mention.

Surprised with the crowd of 37,000 thought there would have been more.

Sadly, Dwyer only as a sub if at all, Seedsman not in our best 22, did Frost shirk it a couple of times? Langdon should not kick out.

Did I mention Swan's game, I love that guy. When Langdon kicked out straight to a Melbourne player Swan was free about 20 metres away, he just shook his head and shrugged. Felt really bad for him.

So Moore and Scharanberg should not play AFL again this year. Both Tried very hard

Surely the good news is that you didnt die on the bus....now you just have to survive the river bars!

Make sure you have a glass of Dexsal before you eat anything, if you manage to catch a reply.

Love that place - enjoy!

True enough.
I'm imagining the plan was to play Goldy forward...still can't believe Elliott as sub...ever, really, never mind with who else was already out...just baffling.

Truly incomprehensible. That decision has challenged my faith in the coaching, just can't understand it

What a load of shit. We arent tanking, we were never tanking. We had an easy draw in the first half of the season, and then a few honorable losses against better teams...and in the past 2-3 weeks the wheels have started to fall off. Theres no design to finish anywhere other than as high as possible. Pinching a flag might have been on the cards if we have pinched a top four spot and had a full list to choose from in peak form, but even then it was only fans speculating, not the club.

The problem as much as anything in the past month has been selection. It was baffling to go in to todays game with a three game player as our only key forwwrad and our next best forward on the sub bench. White HAD to play, if not him then Reid.

Well said. Really needed Reid but he needs one more in the ressies so White was needed to straighten us up...we just had to hope he had a blinder.

Confused on Elliott - perplexing man management: if fit he plays the whole game, if unfit it's a lot easier to manage his workload in the 2s.

Dunno about Greenwood has he got what it takes?

Greenwood for a bloke under done was very good today best game for the club so far

To be fair tho, seedsman had that sewn up before he was subbed.

Agree Seedsman should never play another game for Collingwood we know what we will get with him time to move on sane goes for Toovey

Fas did his job today.......bounced back from his poor performance las week.

Could have kicked a couple more in the first but thought he was good all the same.

Lol and have a look at the selection thread from last week most people wanted him dropped as well

Firstly where did I say we were tanking? I said if you are going to tank or play for picks (like the post i responded too) you make that decision at the start of year before winning 8 games and putting you in no mans land.

Early season noises out of the club was that they thought they were able to with all things going right aim at pinching a flag and were hoping to at least play a few finals. Whether it was PR noise who knows wasn't until after the split round and a few loss' Bucks was dousing expectation early days Pert was making a lot of statements about it and Bucks was saying anythings possible and playing a team that was designed to compete rather then develop youth that changed after the bye.

What I don't understand about Collingwood and our game plan is why we have average to poor kicks bringing it out of the backline?

I have been amazed how many times this year Brown has been the loose man on the back flank

Guys and girls, its been a tough afternoon. To lift your spirits, why not check out the interview with Scottie Burns just a few threads away and take your mind off the loss.

As I've already listened to it, I'm gunna go consume my weight in alcohol instead :D
