Play on says the fwit in green...seriously they missed about 7 in the 1st half
Seriously, whathe? Holding the ball is based on prior opportunity, having possession, and correct disposal. He'd run 5+ steps, that's surely prior. He held it for those 5+ steps, so that's possession. So then, how is that, in any possible way, correct disposal?

Defies belief.

At a guess, I would suggest the umpire believed that the tackle wasn't stuck. Weller hit him, the ball went free, Weller never really grabbed him.

still has to release the ball legally after that many steps though. imagine someone getting it off half back, running all the way to his forward line, then getting hit/tackled like that and it not get paid HTB. it's the same thing, prior opportunity is prior opportunity

Out of all the decisions I didn't mind this one. It was more of a bump than a tackle.

Plus they have the whole 'knocked free in the tackle' which counts as play on but also completely contradicts the whole illegal disposal rule.

But I digress.

It's still incorrectly disposed of.

Maybe I'm imagining things, but didn't Weller lay another tackle at the other end of the ground, where he went to ground? I swear it was a different tackle, maybe not.

He straight up mugged him, and bit a chunk out of the players neck before disposing his limp body.

Ok buddy, we get it, you've been taking pointers...

Exactly. And unless you are stripped or dumped AS SOON as you touch the ball, an incorrect disposal after having a chance to get rid of it, should be GONE every single time. If a player is streaming up the wing with the ball, 2-3 bounces, and the tackler can't stick a tackle but grabs an arm and the ball flicks loose, or a pressure touch that causes the player in possession to fek up the bounce of the ball, or a tackle slips but you trip over and spill the ball..... YOU ARE FKKKN DONE SON! go on. get out. gon get!
