Great news for the game, wouldn't be suprised if the Hawks v Cats game has a huge crowd as well. I think a lot will double up for the Friday night game, I know I am along with half of Perth which is flying over.:thumbsu:

Yep I'm flying over from Perth with my 8 yr old son for the thur & fri night games + the F1 on Friday... cant wait!! We'll be in eagles gear cheering cuz and judd (at the footy, not the F1 ...coz thatd get weird looks)... :D

I respect your investigation on the figures but if you were, you couldn't possibly disagree with me - regardless of who you support and what bias you/me may have. Black and white on this one sorry bud.

Tiger ferals will be out in force again and I think you'll find thursday nights game will have a similar ratio again to the centenary match with hopefully a different end result to the game! ;)
Good on you for sticking to your opinion but it is still just that.

The only other alternative is that Richmond supporters outnumber Carlton supporters across the two games but went missing in comparison throughout the rest of the season as Carlton's overall attendance was higher.

If both games got very similar crowds, but the Carlton home game had more Carlton supporters than the Tigers home game, surely that would mean the Tigers supporters did not support the Carlton home game anywhere near as much as they did the Tigers home game. Fair call?

Put another way, you claim the Carlton home game was roughly 40k Carlton supporters, 32k Richmond supporters while the Richmond home game was about 54k Richmond supporters and 18k Carlton supporters. By my count that is 22k Tigers supporters who did not support the Carlton home game and 22k Carlton supporters who did not support the Richmond home game. If your observations equate to actual supporter numbers of course.

In WA the game has been brought fwd from 8:30pm to 8am ie 10pm in Vic.
Gotta hate that!

How generous.

If you have a digital TV (on ONE HD/SD) the game starts at 7pm in Perth...So at least the game won't yet be over in real time when the broadcast starts....

That would breach anti-syphoning laws, I'm pretty sure whenever it starts on "normal" Ten it will start on ONE.

If the MCC members aren't interested in sitting up there, open it up to the public - say 10,000 more seats.

Not a chance. How would you distinguish between MCC members and the general public when they leave their seats and move throughout the reserve?

I don't pay >$500 a year to share the first-class facilities in the MCC members reserve with the general public who want to sit in the best part of the ground, just because they were too slack to organise their tickets early enough.

If people want to sit in the MCC members, they can either wait 15 years and get a membership, or suck up to a MCC member mate who can buy them a visitors' ticket.

That, or they should have bought their tickets earlier. It's not like there wasn't plenty of notice as to when the tickets went on sale.

Are we playing twice this season?

Let's hope both teams are still in the running and the Tiger fans can return the favour and boost our coffers too.

Didn't a lot of the bigger clubs use to share both gates for these games once upon a time?

Carlton, Essendon and Collingwood do as did Richmond till they started going broke and one year decided to keep the gate against the Pies from the "regular" opening round. We had a deal to play the Tiges in the opening round and share the gates from both games .... but Richmond got greedy and broke the deal. Now their supporters are crying because standard season ticket holders are finding they have to book a seat and PAY for it .... well if they wanna be a top drawing club they better get used to it.

Right, because wanting a 50/50 split of takings instead of 60/40 swayed your way is greedy.

They wanted that deal because they were drawing more than us. If Richmond final a couple of times...indeed if we do so once....you will see the Tiger hordes return and you will see Eddie and Co. much more interested in a fair 50;50 split as will we be.

Back is the 1970s Tigers V Pies was averaging more at the G than any blockbuster nowadays except Anzac Day and that was before the surge in attendance over the past 20 years.

Both Pies and Tiges have a vested interest in the Tigers being competitive and a fair and even home and away sharing arrangement.....it will happen.

Geez, for a completely uninformed rant, you've done quite well.

Why should Richmond share the gate with Collingwood? A deal that works in your favour even if you go a 50-50 split of the cash...

Good to see the Tigers walked away with a boatload of cash from one of the lowest point in their history.

The CFC is glad to be of assistance.

I remember this game, it was when the Carlton fans still thought they would go the season unbeaten like Geelong and StKilda are. :p
