Leppa has ruled himself OUT officially I suspected it from the get go that he’d consider too early in his journey at coll
Hummm also said never say never! and he would like another dig! I thought you would have known by now what they say and what they do is two different things!

Looking at the panel, I was a bit surprised to see Paddy Steinfort on the list. I had to google what he had been doing with himself, looks like he has been doing work with the storm.

Through the google, i found this lil gem of a website too. Who knew he is not only a sports genius, but a comedic one as well.

I miss the days when the internet just felt like a few thousand websites that looks like this one
He’s there with the Legendary Joel Selwood.

This is exactly what I don’t want.
A coach that makes slight tweaks to an out dated game plan for the same team.
We know that since 2021, Hardwicks plan with this team has seen other teams pass us at an alarming rate. Why continue on this path?

Club needs to hear what McQualters long term game plan is. It’s highly unlikely to be what the supporters are currently seeing.
It’s not dated when the best team in the comp is using it

That referred to not now , never know in the future ,,,I could tell he was pretty invested and it’s early doors , not worried anyway had doubts on his ability to be big cohuna

No of course not!
The best Team in the comp has two of our past assistant coaches...not ONE but TWO... operating there ensuring Dimma's game plan is a winner...
Then we had another side in the comp GWS pinch our past assistant coach in A.Kingsley...also wanting a sniff of that Dimma game plan success!
Then we had R.Lyons on his way to be head coach of the Saints pleading with our care taker Coach Mini to come with him as well...a care taker assistant coach well familiar with Dimma's game plan!
Three GF's out of four years says Dimma's game plan still has plenty of potency left in it!
Of course each team is different...so of course Dimma's game plan would need some tweaks and minor adjustments to suit...
Clubs don't throw the baby out with the bath water when looking for new coaches and game plans....they won three GF's with Dimma's game plans so now its suddenly and mysteriously outdated?!?!?!...so lets look for a new game plan!!!! It doesn't work like that unless the Club is a total basket case! (Wallace + Frawley at RFC)(Rutten + Caracella at Bumbersland!)
Most clubs...they pick over the successful teams plans/assistants and grab for themselves what suits/works with their club!...like vultures over a carcass...their is no magic game plan for success...it's continuous hard focused work from all facets of the Club...Committee, Sponsors, recruiting, that wins in the end! And every year their is a G.F winner without fail!

I’m in the camp of that we need a fresh voice.
really warming to josh Carr.

The way we have played the last three years is significantly different to Macraes style.

Those that go to games can see this. It’s pretty obvious. You do go to games don’t you?

You guys think coaching is just about letting the players play one style and the flag is a cakewalk. If that was the case, then just about anyone could coach.

Exactly Bo . What people need to understand is our players are dated and most are not able to carry out that gameplan. Yes it may need tweaking, but it's having the guts to move non performers on.

Josh Carr would turn TT, Hopper and Bolton into the most effective midfield in the league

This is why I want him most. He has transformed Ports midfield into one of the best in one season. Freo midfield was flying until he left too. We already have a solid back 7, if we can gain midfield dominance we'll be back up contending again next year.

Truely hope he is our next coach. 👍
I do too, clearly the best candidate in my opinion. Won’t be mad at all if they decide to stick with Mini as the players seem to absolutely love him which matters, but Iwould much rather someone to come in with fresh ideas and a fresh game plan.

Dimma did us a huge service for letting us get into the process early before anyone else. One final gift, our next premiership coach

Sorry to intrude, but the word I have is that a succession plan is on the table which is still to be agreed to by all parties at Port but they are hoping to get it done. With Hinkley to get another 12 months and a huge bonus $$$$ if he snags a flag this year, and for Carr to take over in 2025. If the deal gets done expect Carr to pull out of richmond coaching race probably during the bye week before finals.

Thats very true but i dont think we are that far off from being able to rediscover that game plan with some of the pieces we already have in place

Backline : I think this area is fine with the players we have on the list
Young , Balta , Gibcus , Vlastuin , Short , Rioli , Brown , Trezise There is enough talls and smalls with pace and skill to play the game style / plan

Rucks : Nankervis , Ryan , Soldo , Miller , Biggy ( Good rucks and backup depth) Not elite but good enough to implement the game style

Midfield : Martin , Bolton , Hopper , Taranto , Sonsie , Graham , Baker Probably short 1-2 quality outside running player like lambert but we have 3-4 players that could become that player like Clarke , HRS , Banks , Smith

Fowards : This is where the main issue's are imo
Too many times our foward entries go un rewarded and we have lost that 'Killer' hit

But we do have some kids with the required skills that 'Could' develop into that games style and become the next Butler/Rioli/Castagna
Campbell , Coulthard , MRJ , Clarke , Green , Smith , Cumberland - This is the are we need to develop and get dangerous

KPF - We are heck'd after Lynch
Bauer , Bradtke and crickets

This is why i really wanted HH to become that 2nd KPF
He has the talent and tools to fill this role , great mark , great kick and good size with good mobility and agility and also footy IQ that demands a good defender and can bring team mates into play by bringing the ball to where the smalls are.

But the main thing thats required is the 'Spark " that young fast electric kids bring to the team

With a new coach and a player that can take Jacks spot we could be back into that range in 2024

Very possible, wait and see really. Until such an announcement is made he is still a target.

In the Ross thread I stated my calculations on how we are two quality mids short or we need four guys to come in and replace four of the lower performing players by about 50%.
People are getting conned thinking it’s our FL, nut it’s our MF and wings the issues.

Could get messy ala Malthouse/Buckley.

Why would he wait two years for a senior gig when he can have one in 2 months' time though?

Woah nelly. Hold up.
Where have I dismissed McQualter because of this?

Let’s read others posts properly and discuss thoughtfully.

With a big Victorian club. He wants it now not in a few years.
