Hence chasing someone who will cost zero. You have to give quality to get quality and the cats management have never really rated ruck as a position. I honestly think they thought they'd get TDK for a future 3rd because that's just how they rate rucks.

To be fair, most rucks are pretty similar. It's only the top 2-4 each year that make a difference.

Unless it's like a 19 year old who is 4th in line and only playing because of injury.

We will get a 2nd for sav but i wouldnt trade that for soldo. We are better off getting a cheap FA like flynn.

I think we'll offload a couple of Soldo, Ralphsmith, Cumberland, Graham types and try come up with a package for GCs 1st pick. I wouldn't be surprised if we try trade our future 1st for a 1st this year either.

You havent got enough to get GCs R1. In terms of graham hes probably a mid to late R2 as are the other guys you mentioned. The old guys like grimes broad etc arent worth much due to age nor is dusty as good as he is-a team would just wait 12months and get him FA if he doesnt retire.

The only guys 25 or over that would net you good picks are rioli short or bolton but the latter you wont trade and the other 2 just signed long term. I dont see it happening.

No they wouldn’t maybe 2 years ago they would now they have little to no value

Yeah, Sokdo is a solid 1st ruck though he offers little around the ground …. Second round pick for sure

Only players Richmond have currently that would net them a first round pick are ones they simply cannot afford to lose (Bolton, Dan Rioli etc)

They like Hawthorn previously, are now being brought down to the pack due to equalisation due to their constant success and making finals over the previous 8 or 9 years

Can't really blame them for trying to stay up as long as they could and try have one last crack by bringing in Taranto and Hopper (although in the latter's case, they gave up too much for him, but I don't think they thought the likes of Cotchin, Riewoldt and especially Grimes would fall off such a cliff this season)

They need to roll up their sleeves and get ready for a few painful seasons of rebuilding ahead. They definitely won't stay down as long as other rebuilding clubs though, imo

27 is prime age for a ruckman

He's had one knee injury. Yes, he's been backup to a 3-time premiership ruckman and our captain. He's good enough to be a 1st ruckman at AFL level.

What did Brayden Preuss go for a few years ago? 31? Soldo is far better than him.

If anyone gives up a pick under 40 for Soldo this offseason I’m more than happy for you to come back and say I told you so but when he inevitably isn’t because he’s at best a low end first ruck I do hope you take it on board and don’t pretend you were ripped off

Clubs pay premium prices for premium players and nothing much for everything else …

Every club will be chasing that pick and virtually every other club has more they can offer. It will take a massive premium in terms of points to get it. If it's pick 5 there's no way a handful of picks 25+ will do the job.
