Yabby was a uniformed Sergeant with the Russell Street Reserve in 1977 when I was working at D24 for 3 months.

Tell you what you always straightened your back and walked with a purpose when you saw him. He had that look of "don't f**k with me".

Thanx for making our great footclub what it is today, the true family club and one of the most successfull club of the last 50 years and one of the most feared clubs of the 80s.
This great club will live on with the memories of one of the greatest coaches to ever coach Ausie rules football.
R.I.P Allan(Yabby)Jeans.:thumbsu:

"Even at weekends I wear snakeskin boots with points on them and long coats and people say "Hey, have a look at those shoes........I just differ from the rest, I just sort of enjoy the limelight.' - Dermott Brereton.

There was another who knew the value of a good set of boots, or shoes.....

And the price that you must pay to get the BEST pair.....

The world is a lesser place today for the loss of the straight talking policeman, football genius, family man and great human being.

RIP Yabby - we mourn you.

There is a famous phrase along the lines of "you'll be a better person for having been at Hawthorn". Well I think that Hawthorn Football Club is a better place for having been fortunate enough to have had Yabby Jeans there. An absolute legend and inspiration.

Condolences to all his family and many friends. RIP.

You were an beacon for the hawks and lead the greatest dynasty the game has seen. To build a team first culture with some of the biggest personalities in the game took a great man.

A very sad day, when I joined BF I thought about what username I wanted and avatar and I choose who I thought was the greatest Hawk.

Vale Yabby.

Yabby you were the inspiration the leader and teacher of the greatest side of the modern era. Whats more that was only your day job. A family man a husband and wonderful father. In the words of Sandy Roberts

"What more can you say"

RIP Yabby

Death is an inevitable fact of life, but Jeans will be remembered far after most of us are gone; so great was his legacy.

RIP Alan Jeans.

I'm going to make a statement you'll either agree with or think I'm trolling.

If Allan Jeans was not the coach in the 1989 Grand Final Hawthorn would not have won.

It's not a knock on your list but you guys were as noted in trouble physically. It's the greatest GF and I'll stand by it. He was clearly an inspiration to many and should never be forgotten for it.

Small suggestion. I believe St Kilda and Hawthorn play for the police cup ( 3:30am and I'm tired so forgive memory lapse.) But considering Yabbie was also a policeman I think it would be fitting if they had a medal for best on ground in those games. May sound cheap and tacky but he deserves a lasting recognition.

the blue ribbon cup i reckon should be named the Allan Jeans blue ribbon cup or even the Yabby cup [maybe] and leave the medal to what it is named and is for , the Man of the Match is awarded the Silk-Miller Medal.
