I don’t think we’re good with players who could be seen as misfits. I think the club is fairly judgemental with them. Balic, Hogan, Dardy and probably Colin Sylvia, Shane Yarran and even Willo.

Disagree. I always felt Ross Lyon was emphatic with more questionable individuals and gave them a chance. Sometimes it works like Sonny Walters but often times it doesn't.

Yeah Maybe. I don’t think Belly is good though. Just a vibe when he was handling things when Hogan was with us. I also think Ross responds well to players who he can have a paternal relationship with.

I know he wasnt top of the notch but 29 is way too young. RIP to his family and friends.

Im not sure the effects on how that effects the playing group tonight. Id imagine some will be playing with huge emotion and there may be some tears tonight from the crowd and players.

The Fremantle Football Club is extremely saddened by the death of Cam McCarthy on Thursday at just 29 years of age.

“On behalf of everyone at the Fremantle Football Club, we extend our deepest sympathies to Cam’s family at this unimaginably difficult time,” Fremantle Chief Executive Simon Garlick said.

“Cam came to the Club from Greater Western Sydney in 2016 and played 49 games for Fremantle after initially being drafted from South Fremantle.

“His death is tragic, and to all of his family, friends and teammates, we extend our deepest condolences.

“Cam was a kind and easy-going person at the Club, and he was someone who had a habit of making people smile and laugh. His talent was undeniable and he loved his footy.

“Our thoughts are with Cam’s family and his loved ones during this time.”

McCarthy was initially drafted from South Fremantle by GWS with pick 14 in the 2013 National Draft, playing 21 games for the Giants before returning home to WA in 2016 to join Fremantle.

He played 49 games for Fremantle across four seasons, kicking 63 goals.

McCarthy made his AFL debut for the Giants against the Western Bulldogs in the final round of 2014, with McCarthy kicking a crucial goal in the final term to help secure a 6-point win.

He went on to play 21 games for the Giants before being traded to Fremantle along with picks 34 and 72 at the end of 2016 in exchange for pick 3.
