He was reviled by the left, but ends up as the greatest small l Liberal prime minister in our history.

He certainly 're-framed' his position in his later years. I don't mean that cynically, because people can change.

Sorry this is a bit late. Malcolm Frasier would be considered a socialist by todays political standards.

I grew up with Richies dulcet-tone, never got tired listening to his voice and cricketing wisdom, actually I thought he was a better commentator while working for the BBC over in England. I think he took a back seat while working at channel 9 for the likes of Bill Lawry and Tony Greig.

As for the aussies who were executed, nobody deserves to leave this world in such circumstances, no civilized state behaves in that manner. I can never understand why people travel to these places, but I suppose people overlook or turn a blind eye to most things these days.

On a personal note, a school friend of mine sadly passed away last week. He got diagnosed with cancer in January, he was healthy, never smoked, hard working family man, we played football together.
You try to come up with answers as to why and how it happened, like I did with my late brother.
How could a person be talking to you one minute and gone the next, is it stress, is it the chemicals in our foods we eat, is it pollution in the air we breathe, radiation from mobile phones and other electrical appliances.
I will use an alias name , Shaun was 43yrs old, he will be missed by his wife and 2 kids, may you rest in peace brother and may God have mercy on your soul.

RIP Blues Boy (BB) King.

Many blues collectors and aficionados never really accepted BB claiming he was too close to Pop music to be regarded as a great blues artist. Every one is entitled to their opinion. I have mine and this is it.

Yes BB was a 'commercial' blues artist and his music ,at times, did transcend into the Pop field but his roots were always pure blues. His early recordings on the RPM label are as good as almost any other bluesman. Only the stellar artists such as Frankie Lee Sims were better. His repertoire was boundless most of which he wrote himself. Instead of dismissing him I prefer to say he was different.

Because his music and style were easier on the ears commercial radio played his songs resulting in many listeners to delve further into the blues scene. To so many who became blues fans BB was the start point.

I could not count the number of times I have heard someone say Billy Bloggs is the greatest guitarist in the world when it is certain that they have only heard a handful out of thousands. There is no such person as the greatest guitarist in the world. Rolling Stone magazine likes to rank musicians (a worthless task in my opinion) from one to one hundred. Rolling Stone ranked BB number 6 in the top 100 guitarists of all time in 2011 and number 3 in 2003. As I said I do not rate these rankings because no one has heard every guitarist (for instance who has heard of Randy Holden) but those extremely high rankings by a generally highly regarded source does give an indication of the acceptance of BB as one of the all time great guitarists.

BB was the best guitarist I have heard but I only say that because I loved his style. He never played slide or bottleneck because, as he explained himself, he could get the same effect by unique use of his fingers on the fret.

Saw him live twice. Was a brilliant showman. He was still performing well into his late seventies and early eighties.

One of the last surviving artists from the golden era of rock and roll and blues. Only 3 or 4 left now.

RIP the great BB King.

BB King was popular and his style or more accurately his unique style was well known throughout the world. He came from a poor family like all the blues singers of his era, born in Mississippi, his success would eventually catapult him into mainstream music, all in all showcasing Blues Music to popular culture. Muddy waters and a few others did the same when they migrated to the big cities North.

We have to understand the blues genre came from the south and into the mainstream and around the world. Countless varieties evolved, from raw hard blues which I love and enjoy, although most people cannot appreciate the original genre, to upbeat commercially popular styles to urban amplified sounds from Chicago by Muddy Waters and Howlin Wolf of which I also love.

BB King brought Blues to mainstream, he mixed traditional blues with Jazz, swing and pop music with his own style, I don't know whether he was the best guitarist but he certainly put his heart and soul when he performed.

I love the blues and BB King was one of my favourite performers.

I never saw him live and to the people who did you saw a unique man, BB King will go down as a legend.
