Yeah, but you are also ignoring the 2 early goals you got from decisions very similar to the stringer one (one identical, and the other far worse) plus a free we were given incorrectly to Zaharakis which was called back and cost us a goal........plus the free Stringer didnt get for Frosts **** up in the tackle.

Not saying we were on the wrong end of the stick, but that's 4 goals difference right there.

Far too many "neutrals" that are wanting to sink the boot I to Essendon are making a bigger deal out of the umpiring than there should be.

We got the rub, but not by as much as people are wanting to make out. Was just terribly umpired all round.
And the Melbourne player who flat out dropped the ball in the 3rd (4th?) and didn't get paid.

Umpiring was ordinary but went both ways

Watching the first quarter. Umpire whinging is a bit of a joke.

Melksham dodgy free goal
Neale Bullen dodgy free goal
Zaharakis sling tackle for McKenna advantage non goal

Stringer dodgy free goal.

That’s a 3to 1advantage in just the first quarter.

Was quite gusty at the ground, never once mentioned on tv I hear.

Pretty clear advantage to the end we had first, then dees second, then us third. I half expected dees to run over the top but we held firm.
Dees won the toss, wonder why they elected to kick to the non-scoring end?

Amazing what a difference it makes when you play with a bit of heart and spirit. Yes there where patches where things went ordinary and a few players had moments they would care not to remember but it shows what happens when you dig in and all your leaders lead.

Raz made a huge step forward. Rather than slinking around in the forward half he was on his bike and presenting as a target and even playing half back at one stage. Walla was 100% better. Zaharakis looked much better and even did well at half back.

Coaches need a tick as it looked like they changed the defence a little. They where playing a tighter man on man zone (pick up the player in your area) rather than trying to pull of the sliding zone.

We had a good win so the bad on the night will not be getting a run this week other than some of the holding the ball decisions across the league are mind blowing.

One thing I hope they do not do is bring back both Myers and Langford. If both play along with Heppell we are simply too slow. You could notice last night how much quicker we looked.

Parish in the middle anyday over Myers and langford, he shouldn't be wasted on a half forward flank. His hands are so good in close. Rewatching the game from last night his releasing possessions set up so many goals. If his finishing can improve he can be a gun.

Thats the worst part though, Frost gets pinged for holding when he doesnt hold, then Stringer catches him dead to rights holding the ball in the last quarter and they dont pay it. There was one when Hurley ran straight at Melksham in the pocket and didnt look at the ball once, nothing. But Neal Bullen gets a holding free against Saad for having an arm rested on him. Atleast if they pay none, its consistent
Perhaps I imagined it but in the last Q I'm pretty sure I heard the ump called "touched, play on" and a Dees player marked it around the centre and the mark was awarded...

I thought that happened as well but no one seemed to make a deal of it at the time so figured I saw and heard it wrong.

Than there was a throw in the same play too wasn't there?

Also Fantasia caught a Melbourne player absolutely cold on our F50 in the last(I think), they had taken 5 or 6 steps from memory, ball came loose not called.

Horrible both ways, agree.

Yep, I saw that too. It was called touched Play on and the Demons took a mark about 60 m out. I expected the Bombers to drive him into ground. Couldn't believe it when a different umpire called the mark and the umpire who called touched Play on said nothing. Weak.

Jake caught Frost (I believe) 20 m out directly in front and he dropped the ball like a sack. Umpire didn't call dropping the ball. Jake got it back not long after, but should've been a certain goal. I think it was just before Jake kicked a point to make our lead 17 points.

Spot on

Good win and makes me feel a whole lot better about our chances this season after a massively frustrating first two games.

We always seem to be able to turn it on when our backs are against the wall and there is maximum pressure on the team.

Hope we can back up next week with much less pressure on.

Have you seen Brisbane this season? There'll be no less pressure. The lions are playing the team game well.

Both of them. Shiel was very good last night.

Yes, he showed his class with ball in hand many times and that pace he’s got is electrifying.

Just want to see a little bit more of that mongrelised aggression that Smith possesses.

Maybe I’m asking too much.

But in a new environment 3 games in playing for a Melbourne club I think he’s getting comfortable with it all now.

Good times ahead watching him go at it in bomber colours.

And also turned it over a few times that put us under pressure. Are you saying Hooker is not better.
I am saying hooker hasn't played any footy this year and Ambrose should keep his spot next week. I'm scared about 6,6,6 rule with Hooker back and slow
