JSOS has to come in and as a midfielder. Even if he plays 30% forward.

Gibbons also needs to be put into the midfield because he has now been played out of position for 4 weeks.

Both can fit especially with Setterfield suspended and it's not like we are performing so well noone can make room in the middle.

I just hope that we can go head-to-head with Bont, Macrae and Libba. Besides Crippa who is going to step up - Kennedy? SPS step up further? Will Dow tidy things up and go bang? Cunners offer a point of difference? JSOS play the mid/forward role and provide help?

We just need 2 or 3 to step up and give Cripps some bloody support!!!

Sorry to disappoint people on here. But I think differently.

One game is fine. But 2 in succession (especially for a player of his ilk is) nearly too much for a team like ours. I'd be omitting Dow for a week or two to clear his head and return fresh. Shouldn't be rewarding any ineptitude because of intuition. I love the kid as much as most of you (his energy and evasiveness are incredible). But his current flaws stick out more than others. His kicking is troublesome at the moment, and it's best he doesn't face any further mockery and pointing of the fingers. Have to make a bit of a statement.

O'Brien I'd be likely to keep playing because not many are demanding for a spot.

Not too sure where Kennedy sits here given the spotlight placed on him after the Folau incident. But ideally there shouldn't be any. It's best that he comes in to assist Cripps.

There is no point worrying about being too top heavy. What is one small player going to do? Before one says inject speed, what is the point when we can't balance it with control? That being said, I'd still have Casboult out. Favourably for Kerr. Maybe for Garlett.

Lobbe for Kreuzer. No question about that.

Cuningham fit? He plays!

J.Silvagni too. Perhaps play him around the middle. Experiment a little.

If Gibbons keeps his spot. Try him on the wing. Look at what made him a VFL standout and play him where he is best suited.

OUT - Will Setterfield (Suspended), Matthew Lobbe (Omitted), Paddy Dow (Omitted), Michael Gibbons (Omitted), Levi Casboult (Omitted)
IN - Matthew Kennedy, Matthew Kreuzer, David Cuningham, Patrick Kerr/Jarrod Garlett, Jack Silvagni

FB - Jacob Weitering - Liam Jones - Nic Newman
HB - Kade Simpson - Caleb Marchbank - Dale Thomas
C - Sam Walsh - Matthew Kennedy - Lochie O'Brien
HF - Sam Petrevski-Seton - Harry McKay - Marc Murphy
FF - Charlie Curnow - Mitch McGovern - David Cuningham
R - Matthew Kreuzer - Patrick Cripps - Zac Fisher
I - Ed Curnow - Lachie Plowman - Jack Silvagni - Patrick Kerr/Jarrod Garlett

E - Paddy Dow - Michael Gibbons - Andrew Phillips - Cameron Polson
So your happy to drop Dow who actually hunts the football and keep O'Brien who actually looks scared to get the football??

You see the problem is I would say we should be making a minimum of 4 changes this week. But it will likely two with Kruzer coming in for Lobbe and Setterfield out for either JSOS or Kennedy.

INS- Kreuzer Kennedy J Silvagni Cuningham Garlett .
OUTS- Lobbe Casboult Mcgovern inj Obrien Setterfield .

I want to see more run in the side working the ball deeper forward more rather than getting to 70-80 out and bombing long more players hitting up the ground on the lead .
Changing the structure with Casboult and Mcgovern out who I think clearly needs a rest before he is injured properly and out for multiple weeks .
MAY force the players to lower their eyes and look for hit up options more .

Mckay to resume his learning experience in the ruck giving Kruezer a rest on bench only question is Kruezer ready fitness wise to take on the job full time .
Cripps to full forward when Mckay goes in the ruck .
Bit harsh on Cas as I think he's been quite good especially his ruck work against GC but for mine the structure forward clearly needs addressing .
Jack Silvagni to get some midfield minutes otherwise on a forward flank as a hit up option to try and help solve the continual breakdown and disconnect between mids and forwards .
Kennedy also mid especially when Cripps is forward .
Cuningham and Garlett both forward they both know how to get on the scoreboard and both should be able to add needed forward pressure resting mid of SPS Fisher and Gibbons the other option all rotating with SPS spending around 70% of his time mid .
Sticking with Gibbons was actually able to hit the scoreboard all points and was able to be involved quite a lot but I think he's being used incorrectly atm needs to push up more and hit back towards goals with short stints mid .
If I see him used as a marking option or involved in marking contests as much again this week I will lose it .
Want to give Garlett another crack forward think its worth a try in a better performed side this year despite what the win/loss column states .
Pretty clear Bolton/MC are going a different way but maybe without injury concerns to certain players they may mix it up a bit more rather than being oh so predictable .
No changes to the backline they are doing just fine .

Newman Jones Plowman
Thomas Weitering Simpson
Walsh Cripps Murphy
Cuningham Curnow J Silvagni
Fisher Mckay Garlett
Kruezer Kennedy
SPS
Ed Curnow Dow Marchbank Gibbons .

The Blues expect to regain oft-injured ruckman Matthew Kreuzer for the next game against the Western Bulldogs, with Levi Casboult shaping as the likely omission from the game against the Suns.
Both Kreuzer and Matthew Lobbe are likely to be included, with the former not yet match fit enough to carry the ruck duties alone.

This better not be ****ing true.

If it is, only winning will be acceptable. It would look like round 2 last year.

I think our forward line needs a shuffle. Silvagni should come in. Do we have an actual small forward who can come in? Not a converted midfielder. I would've said Garlett but he seems to be a backman these days.

We can honestly go into this game with one ruck, it's not like we wouldn't at least halve the contest against the talls of the Bulldogs. Lobbe/Kreuzer combo is madness.

Only ones that come to mind are Polson, Garlett, Pickett and Lebois.

Polson, Cunners and Gibson are more midfielders than forwards at VFL level they have all shown that.

I actually heard elsewhere Carlton plan to play Phillips and Kruezer with Lobbe and Cas out

If that happens it will be a disaster.

Rather keep Cas than have Phillips as the relief ruck.

bringing in another mid should be the priority.

I will start to lose the faith if we bring Phillips in with Kruez. Especially if the dogs run us off our feet.

I would prefer another loss than to bring Kreuzer back too early.
Now is the time to stay true to what Russell was brought in for and to the long term plan.
I think we are on the right path and very close to becoming a dominant force. I couldnt care less what the media or other teams supporters have to say. And nor should any of us.
One more trade period and preseason then off we go. No question in my mind from what I have seen this year already.
We willl have a top 4 defence.
A midfield that has learned the hard way how to win the ball by grit. Just wait till they have a ruck that helps them.
A forward line that will follow the defence into prowess a year or so later.

I am starting to think the strategy is to replace the goal posts at either end with Carlton key position players.

If we head into the game with any combination involving more than one of Kruzer, Phillips and Lobbe that would be it for our coaches.

That's my issue with our forward line. We typically play with 3 tall actual forwards and 3 midfielders. Would be good if some natural forwards could play for a while, hence why I'd like Jack in.

Is Lebois fit? I thought he was injured.

IN: Kreuzer, Kennedy, Silvagni (Cuningham?)
OUT: Lobbe, Setterfield, Casboult (Gibbons?)

FB: Thomas, Weitering, Simpson
HB: Plowman, Jones, Newman
C: Murphy, Cripps, Walsh
HF: SPS, Curnow, Fisher
FF: McGovern, McKay, Gibbons/Cuningham
FOL: Kreuzer, Kennedy, Dow
INT: Curnow, Marchbank, O'Brien, Silvagni
emg: Phillips, Garlett, Polson, Stocker/Gibbons

Dogs can't win a hitout to save themselves. English averaging 14 & Schache 1 with their opponents averaging a combined 57. Kreuzer back is huge for us, not just for the hitouts but also his around the ground battle with English.

They went small down back last week (late change?), thinking that we don't need Levi for relief ruck duties as Kreuz should be able to do more than Lobbe/Phillips and Schache doesn't do much when he takes over. Harry, Charlie & Levi the forward targets for mine, plus Jack can alternate between forward (when Harry gives Kreuz a chop out) and midfield. I'd even consider us keeping Harry forward and letting Jack be the relief ruck against Schache. I don't want us to run Levi & a ruckman, let alone 2 specialist rucks.

Really hoping Cuningham gets the all clear by Thursday, his spark up forward would be a great addition. Fisher, SPS & DC as smalls around the big 3 feels pretty good to me. Seems like they get a bit of drive out of the backline with their smalls, particularly Daniels latterly as a distributor, so want to keep them in check.

With Bont, Macrae, Libba, Dunkley & Wallis there's some big/solid bodies in the midfield, think Cripps, Ed, Kennedy, Dow & Jack a good mix to battle with them. Outside they've got Hunter, JJ, Smith & we match with Murph, Walsh & O'Brien.

Their forward line isn't particularly big outside of Schache & Naughton but guys like Gowers and Dickson play taller than their height suggests. Then there's Bont & Dunkley who rotate forward. Jones, Weitering, Marchbank, Plowman actually fits alright against them I think. Newman, Simmo & Daisy to try and contain McLean, Lloyd & the bevvy of smaller dogs mids that rotate fwd.

After the diabolical decision to play 4 tall forwards last week and barely kick to them, if we play any 2 of Kreuzer, Lobbe or Phillips, I'm done.

So that will be it ? Never take any interest in the CFC again ?
And what if they do play them this week and win...then what ?
What if we play the talls and we kick to them and they kick 10 between them and we win, still done and not returning?

Well obviously if we actually devise a game plan around the team we put on the park, then of course I won't be done.
But history suggests we never seem to learn that lesson, I would love to be proven wrong this week.
