If Willo is fit he plays
He needs the continuity after nearly 2 years out

Agree if he’s a 100% and the issues he’s had don’t warrant a rest. He’s had a few knocks the last couple of weeks and was quiet today. If we’re looking to get games into others he may be one that’s rested.

Must beat North, who we have not beaten in 4 or 5 years. A loss here would support the mentally weak tag and make finals unlikely. It is a season defining game against a side who traditionally out muscle us. Must stop Goldstein, Pit can't afford to be dominated around the ground. Would De Konig be a sneaky chance to replace Mcgov for a week in a horses for courses selection,?

Gibbons is going nowhere as much as we all like fisher and he has cleaner skills he doesn’t have half the work rate of gibbons, Cuningham’s speed can’t be replaced so he stays so I can’t see who fisher replaces as he’s not a good enough runner to play wing.

I still don’t get the calls for O’Brien to come into the side for newnes, O’Brien seems a great athlete but if we are honest he was gifted games in his first 2 seasons and he was shown to be very timid when the ball was in his area, he hasn’t really had any positive reports from his reserve games either whereas the likes of philp, honey and even cottrell lately have had multiple positive reports, for me newnes stays until O’Brien or cottrell demand being selected and at the moment it seems cottrell is the more likely to do that.

LOB was gaining good reviews when the ‘reserve’ matches were being played. Is it 3 weeks without now...?
I believe LOB also had a beard on the go.

Edit: Seems we played in the II’s today..good play there

It may be unfair to not give kennedy another chance but he really did look out of place out there today. I was really surprised with his poor performance I was hoping he would build on last weeks good performance. maybe it was the slower pace in the wet last week and the speed of the game in today's dry conditions that caught him out. does he stay in our get dropped?

Wasn’t his kicking on the poor side last week? Deplorable today by foot, and that needs to be eradicated from our play. Kills all momentum and I like the new, shiny CFC with good disposal.

Jim, I am afraid you really have no idea, none, nada
I'm not equating the three changes, merely advocating all three. I'd be happy enough with Jack for Kennedy and Fisher for Newnes, but from an athletic perspective, I'd feel like we'd lose strength at the contest for too little a gain in speed, at least on the aggregate.

But like I said earlier in the thread, feel free to explain it to me beyond 'no'. If I'm being stupid, it should be really easy to point out.

I don’t get the hate for Gibbons, actually thought he was pretty good today.
I’d be looking at Newnes and Kennedy for changes and Williamson if he is sore.
Both a bit stiff, Kennedy’s first game was good and Newnes does ok but I thought both of their disposal killed our momentum at times.

Out: Kennedy Newnes
In: Fisher JSOS

Better still Jim, please highlight where Gibbons turned the ball over, that was more glaring than any/all our other turnovers

OUT: Kennedy, Gibbons, Newnes
IN: JSOS, Fisher, O'Brien

Like for like, as easy as it gets IMO.

Do we lose some endurance via Gibbons and some strength over the footy from Newnes? Yes, but we get that back inside the contest via Jack, and we gain in decision making and skill execution, opening up opportunities forward of centre and then all over the ground through our system of ball movement becoming more reliable.

I'll take a sharpened army knife for 3 quarters instead of a serrated butter knife for 4.
You're usually a pretty good poster, but there is just no bloody way Gibbons is not playing next week.

Fisher in for Cuningham, who needs to learn that he needs to perform to keep his spot

The beat us the same way every game. Beat us up in the middle, and out-spread us. Different teams in this week, but we really need Pittonet, Cripps, Setters and Kennedy (if he gets another game) to stand up.

Not sure if Kennedy gets a game this week after one good game and one shocker.
Newnes would be the change I would be making. Just not consistent enough for a senior player, does some good things in a game, but too many poor things.

LOB or Fisher to come in for Newnes. And maybe Jack for Kennedy.

In : Fisher Honey
Out : Murphy Newnes

SPS Jones Plowman
Docherty Weitering Williamson
Walsh Cripps Fisher
Martin McKay Cuningham
Betts Casboult McGovern

Pittonet Setterfield Gibbons

Curnow Simpson Kennedy Honey

Pittonet and Casboult need to narrow the gap between their best and worst.
Can only assume Cripps is fit to play until we know otherwise.
Murphy and Newnes playing nothing much football, Fisher and Honey to add some zip, daring and X factor.
Curnow to Higgins nullifies most of their class.

Cuningham is interesting. He's very effective when we transition the ball, but not so much when we lock the ball in forward 50 and press. I do like that point of difference he brings though.

Honestly I'd take out Murphy for fisher. Fisher provides the same run and skill but will provide more pressure and speed at ground level and around the contest. This isn't a 'just play the kids' opinion, i legitimately think we get better.

Tough on Murph, but I just can't imagine Darcy Byrne Jones strolling past fisher like that...
