I was surprised to be in agreement with Dimmas assessment of the game.

My initial thoughts were we can't afford to keep losing but on the same account our backline needs a bit of time.

Thought our performance was better but we aren't gelling yet. Either players weren't quite in the right position or there were incorrect decisions with ball placement by hand and foot.

Most sides seem to have adopted our pressure style of game and use it in parts which is why it's so important for us to sharpen up to create some time and space.

Loved Stack. Disagree with some on Castagna. Must have a really solid body because he surprised me last night with his body hits on the opposition while still holding his feet.

We need to buy some time with a few wins now so I'm getting nervous about the Port game as to whether we can sort out enough to get us over the line by then.

Otherwise I don't think we are a write off for the season.
This....for some reason we're just not gelling as a team atm. When we do start to, I think we'll be right up there! Next couple of weeks will be tough but then should start to get something going! Wait and see....

We can't carry him anymore, he ****s up way to many times h his kicking is terrible his handball is worse, his footy nous is non existent
Yes he is a quick and can tackle, but if he can't contribute to the score board then he is next to useless
Will love him forever what he did in 2017, but his papers are stamped
I know this is somewhat left field,But with short out could we try George down back?
He has the speed and size something that short gets exposed all the time.
Thoughts?

It’s time to throw some kids in and try and get a bit of fast tracking happening.VFL team is very strong. We take CCJ, Ross, Aarts, Baker, Bolton, Moore - anyone having a crack. Find a way to fit some in. They won’t underperform compared to what we are currently seeing!

Caddy back help a lot but we need fresh blood.

Now that I've had time to reflect on last night it is quite evident that this side without it's core stars is at best an 8th to 12th side. My main gripes with the performances over the last 2 weeks is on the defensive end. There were countless times yesterday where we looked flat footed. Whether it's a fitness or mental application issue I don't know but we've given more space to opposition in the past 3 weeks then we did in 2 years. Our skills have never been great (even in our premiership and minor premiership years) so when our manic pressure is down we're left blokes who mostly plod. Running both ways used to be a formality for us. Now we don't know if we're going to get it.

I don't want to be that guy who bags premiership players as I feel that it's so easy to forget what some of these guys have done when you're having a bad spell but fair criticism to blokes like Brandon Ellis and Dan Butler who know what it takes to deliver on the big stage but are dishing up meek performances week after week.

I feel the plight of Brandon Ellis in particular is a sad one now, he looks like the shell of a footballer he was 2 years ago. Almost every time he gets it, it gets coughed up or he hears footsteps, feeling out of favour with the best 22 wouldn't sit right on anyone's shoulders and I hope he can come out of this slump but he is almost looking worse the more he plays.

On Butler - I've said it before but a player as limited as him cannot go away from what actually makes him so good. Tackling, rushing opponents, making them feel unsafe whenever the ball is in the area. The goals will come as they did when the ball is bobbling up there so often.

Castagna - See above.

Markov is not up to it at AFL level. Looks great at VFL level when you might get that extra yard of space but the attention to detail at AFL level is far superior and Markov cannot find that space. If he's not running with the footy he's not offering much else in any other aspect of the game.

Just on the positive last night. If we can keep Sydney Stack on the right track we've unearthed an unreal talent. Would love to see him spend more time in the middle.

Butler and Castagna have been poo since 2017.
They need a reality check.
Bring Baker and Bolton in.
I think Martin will just get a fine.
Out-Cotchin, Short, Butler and George
In-Caddy, Houli, Baker and Bolton.

Ellis gets 1 more chance. If not, bring in Naish

Need to rethink forward line now that Lynch is there. Take all the magnets off the board and add the dozen or so names of VFL players who are in the frame and select the players who can deliver on new forward line plan. Probably not Dimma's strength, need someone smart, maybe Blake C. Need to add strong ball winners to mid-field, Jack Ross seems best (only?) option at this stage. Maybe seek to tempt someone in for next year (Coniglio?) and in short term look for ready made mid in mid season draft. As far as backline, unless there is someone outstanding in mid season draft need to commit Balta to backline to replace Rance, he is the only option who has the size, athleticism, strength and energy to do so. If they need a contest in the "new" forward line setup then Townsend a better option than Balta.

Can someone please explain tagging because I saw Dusty being held off the ball on a number of occasions. So is it ok to come behind a player, grab both forearms and pull them backwards before they've even got to the ball? Thought there was a rule for holding.

It’s okay because we’re “bring back the tagger”. Plus Dusty cops the short end of the stick always with those sorts of decisions.

Because he has elite strength they expect more from him.

Dunno why that rule doesn’t apply to Mason Cox and other freaks of the game.

What can I say , our intent was slightly better but for some reason our handling of the ball was like trying to grab soap, and our desicion making skills were ******* horrible. Lynch, as much as I love what he has done so far, if he marked and goaled that , we would of been only three goals down .

LeTs face it , cotch and dusty are gone. Hamstrings never see good. Dusty lifted his elbow. That's never gonna end well. All our guns are out. ******* shit. I feel like with so many guys out we are relearNing our game plan again. Which in turn has made out players Not as confident as they used to be. We need to turn it around fast

Outs : cotch, dusty , short , Markov
Ins : Ross , caddy , houli , bolton
Ya missed Grimes
