Garth has no special attributes, I don't understand all the hype.
Butler - out never to be seen again
Castagna - out never to be seen again
Graham - out
Martin - out ( I would consider trading him next season)
Would be hard to move Martin on with those wages. Reckon only St Kilda would take him.

When Dusty is getting tagged like that we need everyone to employ some old school tactics to help him. Give away a free kick or two who cares but we need to be gang tackling De Boer in numbers, bumping him every stoppage and someone like Nankervis needs to throw his body into him at a stoppage and absolutely bury him. Let it be known we fly the flag if you want to get physical with one of our teammates.
Why not send a tagger to their tagger for 3 or 4 minute spurts

Have Graham go to Deboer for a few minutes here and there and do the exact same scragging, blocking, elbowing that he's doing to Dusty.
It might tire the dribblers out a bit and let Dusty off the chain to get some possessions and confidence.
Taggers have it too easy.
They need a taste of their own medicine.

They need to be put under serious physical heat. It's almost as they are the ones who are protected by the umpires. It's pathetic really.

So was none of our players putting any pressure on him (De Boar).

Tagging is a ******* cheap tactic imo

If youre good enough, you don't need to tag the oppositions best players.

Absolute blight on the current game. Don't know how a bloke can run around with one opponent all game and get called for holding him once when at every stoppage he is holding on to him in some capacity and yet the umpires will found a free kick in the very same stoppage for holding the man when two blokes are jostling for the best position in the hope of actually winning the ball and not simply limiting your opponents ability to use the ball. Just doesn't add up. Either put the whistle away or punish the bloke who has no intentions of trying to win the ball.

I mean as bad as Dusty has been this season, he has been tagged in all three games and yet has 1 free kick for in total. Mind-boggling stat. Can't possibly tell me in all the contest Dusty has been involved in this season that he is direct opponent who has zero intentions of winning the ball himself has only impeded him once.

Mediocre player De Boer but has continually shone in games against us - for Freo included.
Puzzling!

Back on the Ellis hate train. I am all for ruining his confidence as a person, **** him. Sit him down and say "We are prepared to let you go for no compensation and we are prepared to make that known to any club/reporter that asks, that is how little we value your output in the senior team." Tell him we will only come to the party when he stops shirking contests or panicking when he hears footsteps in the next state over.

I watched the game again and that is not the standard you want to set to the other AFL listed players slogging in the 2's.

We are all frustrated with his performances, but would this really necessary just because he isn't up to it at this level?

Not that puzzling. Our guys can't handle tags by untalented hacks who aren't good enough to get a game on their football ability.

This is the year of redemption.
Somebody better tell the players and the coaches that redemption means you have to win the majority of your games.

We don’t win clearances, we can’t deliver the ball to leading forwards, we have no grunt around the contests and the players aren’t playing for each other. It’s literally the opposite of the last 2 years. For all you who are laughing at the melts I have news for you - you Clearly aren’t a passionate supporter, nor have you realised the lack of aggression we have lost and the willingness to win. Unfortunately we have lost many key players and leadership. But the fact is, the players that are on the field are not running hard enough and are too costly with skill errors. It’s just not good enough. Yes it’s only round 3, but we’ve seen nothing to suggest we will turn it around. We need to do improve drastically before the season slips away. I can’t believe people are saying ‘we lost, we showed nothing..but hey at least Sydney stack was good’
Jesus Christ. He’s played one game and I think we have more important things to focus on!
Have to bring in caddy and I would play Ross ahead of Ellis. No more excuses Richmond! Rebound next week!

Go easy tagger. All for ruining his confidence as a person? Sheesh.

OUT:

- Short (injury)
- Cotchin
- Rioli
- Martin (susp.)
- Ellis (omitted)
- Butler
- Markov

IN:

- Houli (auto inclusion if fit)
- Grimes (auto inclusion)
- Caddy (returned in the VFL, he's ready)
- Bolton (pace, pace, pace, especially with Rioli possibly sore)
- Menadue (great runner)
- Townsend (brings toughness, which we've been lacking)
- Chol (kicked 3 in the VFL, give him a run)

Next week's team if these were the changes:

B: Grimes, Astbury, Broad
HB: Houli, Balta, Vlastuin
C: McIntosh, Graham, Caddy
HF: Edwards, Chol, Higgins
F: Bolton, Lynch, Castagna

Foll: Nankervis, Lambert, Prestia,

INT: Townsend, Garthwaite, Stack, Menadue

Look, if you consider the above team is missing our best 4 players in Rance, Riewoldt, Cotchin, and Martin, plus Rioli, Grigg, and now Short... that's 7 players in the Best 22 missing, but it's worse than that because 4 of them are the Top 4.

It's like losing all the green cases in Deal or No Deal in the 1st round. That's what has happened for next week.

We actually cannot win next week's game, however we can use this unique opportunity to blood some more games into our future players, and charge back once we get most back on board (minus Rance).

As I said in an earlier post, 2019 probably won't be our year to win the whole thing, but anybody writing us off now, especially given the context of all the injuries playing their part.. they do so at their own peril, because once the majority of them are back, and more importantly in form, we'll be a force again.
