A perma ban is probably a bit extreme, but I feel like it depends on the context.

e.g

If a poster (lets call him Shezza) starts posting his thoughts on a known injured player i.e Short injured his arm and "Shezza" says he thinks he will be out for 10 weeks even though we know its probably 5, not much we can do in that space as it is just an opinion being offered.

But if someone was to come out of the blue and say "player XX broke his ankle in 3 places at training today" and it turns out to be rubbish, thats a different story and would definitely be punishable.

Yeah fair enough. Obviously, they don't actually deserve a perma ban. Just a bit of hyperbole on my part.

As for this "Shezza", sounds like a real idiot. :p

Looks like Cotchin, Short, Martin and possibly Rioli will be joining Rance, Reiwoldt, Grigg and Houli on the sidelines.
The bad news is that's a huge amount of talent and experience to have out of any side.
The good news is that opportunity knocks and we'll find out a fair bit about a few players over the next month or so.
Will Sydney Stack build on his impressive debut and go from strength to strength? I reckon so.
Will Butler, Castagna, Ellis and Markov be retained due to the outs and will they find better form? Jury well and truly out here!
How quickly will Noah Balta develop? Will take a bit of time but this kid will be a player, IMHO.
Will people stop expecting Garthwaite to be Alex Rance after three games? Alex Rance wasn't Alex Rance for his first 50 games!
Will the return of Caddy and Grimes give us the leadership and hardness boost that we need at both ends of the ground!
Who of Bolton, Baker, Ross, Menadue, CCJ gets a crack this week? Will be exciting and interesting however we go.
Going to be an interesting game at the cesspit and I'm looking forward to it... win, lose or draw.

Go Tiges
Eat 'Em Alive
Have a feeling way down in the Never regions, that Oleg
Will be a regular 22 this year,, not sure what or why
But the feeling is nagging away,,
Ellis - Nah
One of either buts or George, will hit form
The other one stays in the 2s
Menadue might come in, Naishy not far aw away either
Bolts will be best 22 ,pretty sure of that one
Baker boy ( would have been a shoe in for this week ) not sure now
With 3 definite changes, already
Obviously grimes and caddy come in
I think Bolton will come in .,, that's 3 for 3
If they make one more change, maybe menadue, Naishy or baker
For George, ellis or butler

Don't want to be negative but I can't see us winning the flag this year.Start playing Chol,Naish, Ross, Baker, Menadue, Miller, Soldo,RCD, Aarts and English so we can manage list changes better.Rance is too integral to our setup.

Not sure you should be holding Bucks up as someone who doesn't whinge about umpiring.
His team is the biggest beneficiary of umpiring in the AFL yet he constantly whinges about umpiring.

Last week his team beat us by 44 points and won the free kick count 25-9, yet him and Pendles were whingeing in a Herald Sun article that they were hard done by because Richmond didn't get a warning for a 666 infringement.

They won the free kick count 28-20 this week and again today Bucks has gone on a long rant about how Collingwood were hard done by with the umpiring.
Not to mention Bucks whinged and whinged about defenders touching his Cox and now you're not allowed to even look at him.

As I mentioned yesterday I can't recall a side missing as many legit best 22 players as we are missing and still being a contender.
Not just best 22, best 4, best 8, best 12.

That'll happen when you have a number of fresh faces in the lineup. I recall Shed saying this time last year that its so important everyone knows their role and where to run, it only takes one person being off with our defensive setup for it to breakdown.

The difference between us now and a few years ago is there is a lot of self belief in our processes and personel, so we will improve quickly imo, just have to hope we are 2-3 going into anzac eve and not 1-4 so the season doesnt start getting away from us. Look at the difference in setup between the pies game and the gws game. We didnt allow gws to chip and switch at will like the week before and boy did they try!

and lets be honest, how many of their goals were opportunistic from a fortuitous spoil or bounce? finalyson a left footer was snapping through goals from 50 on his right FFS. The structural improvement week on week was significant even though we were missing our 2 best defenders and lost our best release player in short very early in the game.

Look we're gonna lose again this week without Dusty, Cotch and Short, but we'll again be better for the run and from the following week with Dusty back after hopefully only 1 week off) we should start to get a bit of continuity going again. Once Cotch and Jack are back (hopefully Anzac Eve) we can really start to motor after that. If we're 3-3 at that stage(wins against syd and dees) I'll back us for top 4, 2-4 we'll be in a fight for 5-8, 1-5 and I'll probably concede we're pushing it uphill.
Certainly right with the bounce of the ball, we didn't have any luck on that front

Exactly, there wont be mass changes, and with the forced outs, there isn't really a lot of room left.

Out: Short, Cotchin, plus probably Martin, and possibly Rioli

They wont do more than that, especially when it means losing experience for kids (we've lost our captain and both VCs, experience is a big deal).
Even if we only lose the first 2, further changes would be unlikely for this reason.

So...
In: Houli (supposedly was close this week), Caddy & if one or both of the other 2 are out, then it'll be out of Bolton (BOG in the 2s), Townsend (tough, somewhat experienced), Weller (experienced) or Ross.
I would Ross Butler and Ellis out. Butler a small forward who is supposed to pressure ended the night with doughnuts in the tackle column.

I think my hate boner for Ellis is pretty well established as to why I do not want to see him in out side again

Not in Melb so I blessed by having no access to the Hun or radio. All I've got to go on is TV & the AFL site. I can only go by what was said in the 2 pressers. If I was Dimma I would've held back about tagging. But maybe he has got a rule change agenda. PS we won the free kick count 24-18

I've had time to di-sect this without having a meltdown. We're hit with injuries, bad form and an inability to sort out this 6-6-6 business, and that last issue is what worries me the most because teams have now found a way through our structure. I think Saturday's game was the first I can recall since 2016 where we defended by kicking sideways and/or backwards. At our best we always went forwards-always!
So, either we've fallen back on old habits, or we have a new strategy (which isn't working), or we're locked down by the opposition set ups. The opening up of play with the 6-6-6 law means we aren't able to choke down the centre stoppages and just grind the opposition down with lots of little knock-ons and handballs....keeping the ball moving forward until we find a hole where we rush the ball forward.
At the moment the whole system of football strategy is changing and ours isn't coping.
In regards to the players...
Under the microscope...... The injured players plus- Castagna, he hasn't shown anything since the premiership year...shocking disposal, flying for speccies and trying for the check side kick far too often.
Butler stays in because I think he's the one player who still causes trouble to defenders when we're up and running...he's clever but doesn't get a lot of the ball. But goes under the radar...I know that comment wont be popular with a lot of posters here.
Ellis stays because I don't think we have anyone who can step in straight away- unfortunately.
Markov- stays in. He's a natural half forward being taught defensive skills but will come in handy in the forward line over the season.
Graham- simply out of form but still handy.
Here's how I'd pick them
Grimes for Short, Caddy for Cotch, Bolton for Castagna, Ross for Martin...but named as I/C.
While our stocks are low at the moment, the results of other games all look haphazard and there's still a lot of time for us to get our full squad back on the field (minus Rance) and put together a run towards the finals.
Rance is the biggest loss and we'll really feel it when we play teams with gorillas in the forward line, like the Eagles, Geelong, Adelaide etc.
But at the very worst, we will have blooded a new batch of kids. It's that new batch that will take us back to the top. In Lynch we have a top line forward- not as smart a footballer as Riewoldt but he will prove to be very handy...lets hope it's this season.

For me, the loss of Rance is the main factor. You just have to look at the scores kicked against us since he's been out.Our whole system was built around Rance's abilty to play on two players at once.

I’m surprisingly calm after Saturday watching the replay. There are days in football where things don’t go your way and very early injuries in a game do take a massive toll. Dropping one rotation so early and then effectively Rioli for a period and Cotch going down meant we ran out of legs in what was a pretty warm day. It happens in football. Throw in some abject performances from especially Ellis and Castagna and you’re effectively down two more rotations. Dusty way off and so many others underperforming.

So to be in the game so long is not to be ignored. We played some pretty good football at times despite everything being against us and only got flogged for 15-20 minutes on what is a top four side’s home deck.

Not our day but a bit of perspective. With a tough start to the season, if we can snag a win in the next two I think the draw opens up with winnable games and we start to get players back.

Sometimes the footy gods don’t smile - but I back our squad to kick on.
