Harvey

2 Brownlows to show for it. At his peak, Harvey was untouchable. Well, you might lay a hand on him, but good luck tackling the bugger. Ran all day. A workhorse who will ulimately fail to have a premiership medallion hanging around his neck. ;)

Pretty much the only reason why I want StKilda to win the flag in 2005
Can't think of a player more deserving to win a premiership medallion

Harvey isnt in the league of buckley.

Two of the best midfielders of the past 15 years. Brownlows do not count for everything, and although Banger is a champ I'd take Bucks for his better kicking and versatility.

That is ridiculous. Buckley damn near won that game for them. It is a stick topic when others say Voss deserved it but it was extremely close and fair from the least deserved Norm Smith ever.
finally a non-biased view. ;)

There is a reason that in almost every thread speaking of the true great players of the game, the comparison tends to be between Hird, Voss and Buckley.

Those three players, over the past decade, have been a class above all others.

Robert Harvey was lucky to win his first Brownlow because of that soft suspension on Chris Grant. There's no guessing here, he didn't get more votes than Grant. This is why I don't see the point of harping on about how he's got two Brownlows. If Harvey had've gotten suspended for some ticky-touch thing like Grant did, then Buckley would've won the Brownlow the next year and had two... Hell, Buckley probably would've won it if Collingwood weren't so damn bad.

I just don't see how, watching the two players at their best, you could pick Robert Harvey, he's just honestly never shown me what it would take for this poll to be close.

Harvey was a good tough player who worked his ass off yet kicked like my grandmother.

Buckley was all grace and poise, one of the most enjoyable players ive had the pleasure of watching.

Only a moron would say that Buckley was better than Harvey at his peak.

Only a moron would say that Harvey had an ounce of skill buckley possessed.

Fair game though, Buckley is one of the best midfielders who has ever played the game.

Buckley consistantly gathered 30+ possessions, his passing on both sides of the body was precision footy. He was incredibly well built like a forward but had the endurance to run all day, rarely getting beaten. He could pass on the run 50 meter flat passes that would hit the chest everything not to mention standing start outside 50 either foot could kick goals post high.

Its easier to win brownlows in a sh1te team than a strong one.

You dont understand football then do ya champ?

Please everyone stop saying one of them whoops the other, they are both fantastic players and it is very close between them. Bucks can play an inside or outside midfielder, while Banger is a true inside midfielder. The fact that Buckley can play both in and out does not make him better, as he doesn't have the evasive skill Harvey has. But when it comes to kicking Bucks > Banger by a long margin. I would take Bucks by a bit due to his versatility and consistency.

Nathan is the best midfielder of the last 20 years, where you put Harvey (who I admire greatly..he is one of few players to have consistency and durability anywhere near Bucks) from 2nd to wherever is up to you.

If i had to choose a young harvey or buckley for my team I would choose harvs.
But in my opinion Buckley could beat anyone in the last 20 years in a one-on-one competition. He is simply so skilled and competitive.
But footy is a team game after all, and i just dont think Buckley has lifted his side as much as harvey over the years.

TWO GREAT CHAMPS.

I think alot of people hate buckley because of his arrogant ar.seho.le attitude, so this probably doesnt help him with posters votes.

An as for the Brownlow's, well they are no messure. Buckley has been jibed of about 3 charlees and its obvious he deserves, for his dominance, to have more brownlow medals than one.

Buckley- Great competitor with supreme skills.
Harvey- Runs every opponent of their feet and can amase 20 possies in 10 minutes.

Buckley because of his impact on the team.

as an opposition supporter if we played collingwood or stkilda and either of these players were missing you would be more inclined to think no Buckley no collingwood, whereas if Harvey was out it wouldnt be as big of a deal.

Buckley can destroy a game off his own boot, kick inspirational goals and brings teamates into the game like noone else.

Buckley no doubt.

It took Buckley 10 years to figure out the best way to hit a leading forward was with a well weighted kick rather than a bullet, Harvey is hugely underrated in that area, and his vision with handball would be in the top 5 ever.

Hugely underrated disposal skills.
