Lewis Jetta 24 goal assists, Cyril 21 goal assists. Jetta 40 Goals, Cyril 35. Tackles Cyril beats Jetta, Jetta has 25 more inside 50s then rioli.
Stats don't lie.

Stats don't lie, but you do.

You have failed to provide averages or account for sub games in using stats for your argument. But of course you're not interested in a comprehensive analysis or you would provide the Champion Data values for both players which has the underrated Rioli well ahead.

Now why would you need averages when selecting the All-Australian side?

It's selected over the entire season regardless of games played. The stats prove Jetta had an overall better season than Cyril, hence Cyril being an overrated choice.

So now your comparing Milne to Puopolo instead of Rioli:confused:
I wonder if Saints fans would have preferred Cyril in tiprats spot for that fateful bounce.

It stemmed from a few pages back when a Hawthorn supporter said Milne wouldn't get a game at Hawthorn, which is rubbish because he'd walk into Puopolo's spot.

To get the better performer.

The only reason Jetta is ahead in totals is because he played 2 more games and because Rioli was a sub in 2. Given that they both played 20 plus games the real measure of performance is averages.

It's selected over the entire season regardless of games played.

If it's regardless of games played then why do your stats rely on games played? :D The real answer is that it relies on games played as well as average performances.

The stats prove Jetta had an overall better season than Cyril, hence Cyril being an overrated choice.

No, the stats disagree. Remember the Champion Data valuations for both players is well in favour of Rioli. Hell he's even ahead in totals, despite missing those two games and being sub in another two :D

The true measure of performance over an entire season is actual performance, when selecting the AA side.
Being sub once, twice or three times times is irrelevant. AA selectors measure the side on performance and contribution not averages, regardless of how many matches they play. Based on the stats Jetta outperformed Cyril in 2012 and contributed more.
Hypothetically you're saying a player can play 16 games and kick 50 goals(have 1 massive haul) yet make the side based on averages, over a player who played 20 matches and kicked 62 and played consistently over the entire season.

^^^ Watch the back pedal go into overdrive now... LOL

Not at all, remember the decision to select ruckmen duo Cox and Naitanui was based on their percentage of time in the ruck and was thus very much done on averages and not on totals.

Furthermore players like Lance Franklin who missed 6 games and were not in the leaderboard for totals such as goal assists, contested marks, etc were selected because they were dominant in terms of averages for these stats.

But of course this totals/averages debate is irrelevant because Rioli is ahead on totals AND averages anyway!
A point you chose not to address.

You're just making my point now.

Franklin kicked 59 goals, 3 fewer than Hawkins despite missing 6 games and playing up the ground, averaging 18 disposals a game. Of course I want the player who is still vying for the Coleman despite missing a third of the season! That's why he was plonked right up at CHF and was a certainty for the All-Australian side.

If you have any sort of point, now would be the time.

Milne would be against Cyril and Bruest for a spot, Pop is purely shutdown and pressure any score is a bonus. Pop would be selected b4 Milne at Hawthorn everyday!
