ROK talks hit a hurdle - SEN

Pelchen said that at no stage was our first pick, pick 16, on the table, neither are the players that Sydney want in return for ROK. Pelchen said that what Hawthorn has offered has been rejected by the Swans and that a deal now looks unlikely.

All the Hawks fans crapping on about Pelchen. Easy to forget that Ireland is on the other side and is the best administrator in the game bar none. To do what he has done with the Brisbane and Sydney franchises is amazing. Pelchen is an amateur by comparison.

Hawks fans also remember a couple of years ago how young the premier Eagles were. All it took was a drug issue and a return home and the cards came tumbling down. Similarities anyone given the media coverage last year of issues a certain high profile Hawk faced

Im confused as well, can u fill me in ???

too many ego's in this game, every club trying to get one up on another in trade week.

Its a farce espcially for long serving players out of contract, bring in free agency.
Tend to agree. Been four days now and nobody wants to give an inch. Both major deals are deadlocked, well actually now only one is deadlocked and the other has fallen over. Draft week should be draft day.

With Hawthorn taking 16 off the table, I wonder if Carlton come back into play thinking the Warnock deal is giving them too many headaches and decide with 24 they might get O'Keefe from the Swans?

I don't know about you guys... but at the start i was really hesitant about getting ROK! now i'm just disappointed! I mean i never wanted to give away 16... but then again... i thought ROK would of been worth it at least.

SHeesh... talk about building up ur hopes for nothing

We don't need him... but damn we would of liked having him

Well that was a waste of time Pelchen. Sorry we couldn't give you an AA player in his prime for nothing.

What a tool:rolleyes:

In his prime? Top 5 for the last 5 years for Sydney, yes, but he will be 28 next season and has at absolute best 5 years left in him. Hardly what I'd call "prime". He is a player that could help us to another premiership short term, ala Dew.
Sydney can hardly expect a ten year star player in return.

Take Tim Boyle, Tim Clarke and our second round pick. Fair swap.

Don't give up yet. It's Thursday, the parties might be a little more desperate at lunchtime tomorrow.
Personally, I thought last Saturday ROK would stay a Swan. Right now, indications are that he wants to be a Hawk. I think a deal will be done; it might be just pick 16 for ROK.
But I think a deal will be done.

I'm disappointed too. I would have thought we could trade 16 for ROK. Then trade either Dowler, Taylor and/or Boyle for a late first or early second round pick, playing ourselves back into the draft.

Hawks have a lot of great tradeworthy kids who can't get a spot in starting 22... it will be very disappointing if we don't do anything during trade week.

Glad you asked!
You said

and I was just pointing out that if you have the runs on the board (as your team did) you have a right to think of yourself "a little too highly". Perhaps that will back fire on Pelch (as some would say it did too the cats, I personally don't think it had anything to do with it) but the basic matter is, that with or with out RoK we have a good side so there is no point over paying for a guy. We have till 2pm tomorrow. No need to take an early deal now!

Do you honestly reckon using pick 16 is paying over the odds for ROK? C'mon I would gladly hand over pick 15 if we had room in our cap.

Haha:D

I know exactly what Quigley was saying!:thumbsu:

Time you Hawks woke up that not all that is in or represents brown and yellow doesn't stink!;)

oh, I am sure these guys are fully aware of the implication made earlier. I think they are just baiting to see if someone is willing to wear a red card for thier beliefs.

Trust me no one could possibly be that ignorant of the situation ;). At least I hope they aren't otherwise a little bit more of that thing I used to call faith in my fellow human has been eroded away never to return.

If ROK is only worth 16 at best then Dowler, Taylor and Boyle are worth 4th round picks.

It's not about O'Keefe not being worth pick 16, it's about wanting to stay in the decent end of the draft. If we trade 16 our first pick is 33 or so, and you're well into the lottery by then.

I'm sure if we could trade a player or players for 15 we'd be happy to send it on to the Swans for O'Keefe.
