Name a small forward better at providing forward pressure, working up the ground ,continously contesting and contributing matchday highlights then Liam Ryan.

NicNat v Gawn will be the ongoing debate. Clearly the top two. NicNat is the superior tap ruckman and clearance player but Gawn does a shitload of work around the ground. Hopefully both stay fit.
Both should make it again. Both fun to watch and head and shoulders above their closest rivals..

Superior tap ruckman I’m not sure it’s Nic Nac. Last years stats, Gawn 33% of hit outs to advantage compared Nic Nac 29.3%

Yeah NNs tap work is phenomenal. That was Gawns 1 wood years back but he has fallen away a bit in that regard but his contested marking and all round game has gone through the roof

Ridley been real good but his stats are inflated since he plays on every kick out. So 10 kicks a game

Not hating, I have him in Dt

True, but when complemented with his elite ratings in winning 1 v1's and intercept possessions, it's a compelling picture.

Wouldn't write Grundy off just yet.
Nah. Not interested. Flattered by performances against inferior ruckmen. Let's see what happens in two weeks against WC.

He's going to get dominated.

Hopefully Collingwood start seasoning him this week before he gets fed to NicNat. Little bit of red wine vinegar and rosemary, please. That's what NicNat likes.

For NicNat you also have to look at clearances and score launches. He lights the fire.
No doubt his work around clearances is massive.

Gawns strength is around the ground, in the air he is the most dangerous player....

That's not a knock on NN, just how good Gawn reads the play as an aerial threat

That doesn't accurately reflect the silver service.

There's hitouts to advantage and then there's putting it in the lap of Tim Kelly on the run.

don’t underestimate the silver service Max gives

I put up Walsh for the final team and both McKay and Fogarty for the squad so far.

Always a few funny names nice and early. 12 months ago Casboult was a CHF lock at this stage.

Max Gawn is great, keeps up this form and both NN and Gawn will be in the team.

The major issue I have with Gawn is that, as good as he is, he is not a match-winner. Had a few chances to win games off his own boot and fluffed it every time.

Extremely solid contributor but serious question marks about his ability to win games off his own boot.

People who quote stats in a debate of influence between NN and Gawn obviously don't watch Eagles games. Quoting hitout numbers are totally useless because NN dominates centre clearances so much that there end up being less stoppages he needs to compete at.

I'd rather my ruckman have 28 hitouts with 6+ goals directly scored from centre clearances than 60 hitouts, 10 marks and 20 possessions around the ground to maybe achieve the same thing.

Both likely to be in the AA team though.
