I get that point but for eg with defenders, all things being equal you would prefer 1 athletic bloke rather than say Weitering, May, Stewart, Lever as some have picked because there could be issues at ground level. The thing about May is that he is way down on rankings lists in most areas. He benefits from being in a team defence and works well within that structure. Lever tends to rise above it with some individual brilliance though.
Lever is so much more important it’s not funny, Tomlinson was as good if not better than May before his injury and Petty has been every bit as good as May since he came into the team

Attempt at a list of players in contention from every club:

Adelaide: Walker probably would've made it if he didn't decide to belt out a racial slur. Seedsman could have a shot if they picked proper wingers, but his last third of the year has been pretty quiet (IMO) which hurts.
Brisbane Lions: Andrews in the 40. I don't think he should be in the 22 (is behind of all May, Lever, Weitering + Aliir) but his rep would help here. McCluggage probably the best winger which should ensure he'll be at least be in the 40. Rich has to be there (has been the best or second best medium defender all season), Cameron has the best numbers out of small forwards which would ensure a spot at least in the 40. McCarthy and Lyons smokies for the 40?
Carlton: McKay in the 22. Walsh and Weitering would at least be in the 40.
Collingwood: I think Crisp would be in the 40. Behind a few for the 22 though.
Essendon: Merrett, Parish and Stringer would at least be in the 40. Would McDonald-Tipungwuti be a shot for the 40?
Fremantle: Darcy is the only one with a realistic shot at the 40. Can't see him ahead of Gawn or Naitanui for the 22 though.
Geelong: Hawkins and Stewart should be locks for the 22 you'd think. Guthrie maybe in the 40 but lots of competition in his role which hurts.
Gold Coast: Miller. Ben King maybe a chance at the 40, but probably hasn't done enough beyond kicking goals.
GWS: Greene. Kelly and Taylor have outside shots at the 40 (I honestly think Taylor's been the best KPD all season, but that injury hurts)
Hawthorn: Quite probably no-one, I think the only ones that may have any kind of chance are Mitchell and Breust.
Melbourne: Oliver and Petracca locks for the 22. I imagine at least one of Lever and May make the 22 as well. Gawn and Salem have to be in the squad at least. I could see Pickett and Fritsch as smokies for the 40. Langdon's probably faded a little too much to make it now.
North Melbourne: Likely no-one, though Hall and Zurhaar could be in the squad.
Port Adelaide: Wines is probably a lock, Aliir and Amon have to be locks for the 40 at least. Dixon could be in contention for the 40 too.
Richmond: Riewoldt would have a good chance for the 40. Maybe also somone like Grimes or Short?
St Kilda: Only one I can see making it is Steele.
Sydney: Lloyd, Dawson, Papley and Franklin I think all have shots at the 40. Maybe also Parker. Mills probably makes the 40 before he got hurt, Hickey depends on how many rucks in the squad.
West Coast: Naitanui is likely the only one in contention.
Western Bulldogs: Bontempelli is a lock. Macrae and Dale have to be in the 40 at least. Bruce and Naughton might be in the 40. I think Libba's dropped off too much for the squad.

I think you've hit the nail on the head with this, 100%. Can't think of any changes I'd make tbh :thumbsu:

If only two wingers in the squad surely Amon and McCluggage are the two AA wingman

This assumes that they don't just dump outside-leaning onballers (think your Merrett types) there.

Generally what seems to happen with the wingmen is they’ll acknowledge the true wingers with squad selections then place on-ballers there in the actual 22.

I think genuine wingers and their importance to structures have got far more credit in the media in recent times, so hopefully that translates to the final team.

I like Amon and Seedsman.

lol Parish. He'd have be the most feminine 'inside midfielder' in the game. Getting tagged by some of the most unknown taggers in the games and getting owned. Under no circumstances should he be anywhere near this AA team. Give him a squad nomination for playing well in the medal games but he can't shake basic taggers from no names because he's weak in the contest. half way through the 3rd and he's had 100 metres gained and 4 kicks.

His team is also 6 goals up in a bruise free dead rubber mate, who gives a shit

Bruise free is Parish's specialty. But it's a massive cop out to say it's a dead rubber. This is a pattern of behaviour now for Parish. 3 or 4 times he's been tagged out of games by absolute no names.

Also Steele's game was a dead rubber too but he was BOG.

Hand on heart I reckon I could tag Parish to under 20 touches. He's actually terrible when no t allowed to run free. Disposals are horrendous too.

But can Jake Stringer play a first quarter?

Insulting someone by calling them feminine is pathetic.

Everyone here has had enough of you.

Gawn in the Squad at least????? He is the easiest pick this year. Clearly the number one ruckman, and most likely captain.

Langdon no way near the squad, Oliver Petracca and Lever will make it, May in the 40.

Fair enough. I'll change my language. Parish is probably the weakest, most delicate inside midfielder in the comp whose stature and build reminds me of the u18 vic champs. He looks to not want to embrace contact and ensure that every strand of hair is still in place.

Nothing like some casual misogyny on BF

Tell me you don’t watch Darcy Parish without telling me you don’t watch Darcy Parish.
