As it stands now, we have three rookie positions to fill on our list. So Who would everyone like to see us pick up in the rookie draft?

I'd like to see us pick up:

Angus Milham

With the developing team we have now led by choco, i have a belief that we could turn any kid we draft that has potential succeed this is why i believe we should rookie list Angus Milham the 210cm giant from the Oakleigh chargers. Yes needs to improve quite a bit and needs to fill out into his 210cm frame but with the right development could become something special.

and if still available come rookie draft:

Charlie Cameron, WA 183cm 72kg small forward

Hmm another Angus on the list, seems too risky to me.

That Ruckman is a spud but that Charlie Cameron can play. Why wait to rookie draft him lets use pick 50 on him.

He does look pretty awful from his highlights although his shear size at a ruck contest when he has filled out and developed would be too much to handle and more often or not if he didn't win the ruck contest, the opposition ruck will most likely give a free kick away to him. i believe with our development team at the moment could turn him from terrible looking player into a monster ruckman like sandilands. In 5 years meaning if he had progressed well and was on track he would be promoted to senior list after 3 years when rookies have to be promoted or delisted.

There's always hope ;) Matty knights to come in late and get the saints coaching :p or we stick to our guns and make choco honour the final year of his contract.

Why would we want to get in the way of a person getting a senior coaching job ! Thats the reason why they are coaching in the 1st place
Would be wrong - Good luck to him id chocco gets the gig

Because we have already started our preparation for next year and he is a major part of those plans. If they had sacked watters before we had turned our attention to next year, we would of had no problem with him, heading off to the saints but now that we have planned to have choco and given him a greater role with more involvement on match day, i see us trying to stop his move. As it is hard to find a good replacement at this time of year and he has already acheived the feat of being a senior coach as well as a premiership coach. So its not like we would be blocking a person who has never been a senior coach before.

Agree in that I believe that we should take a ruckman with one of our rookie picks. Only going by highlights on afl.com for info, so don't know that much about who, but Angus Milham looks terrible. Was more impressed with Josh Miller and Archie Smith

He does look terrible thats why i was thinking as a more of a project player as he has the height that other ruckman will struggle to handle and will give away a lot of free kicks just trying to move him to get the tap. It may take a while to get his skills up to scratch but if he can fill out into his frame of 210cm, could possibly became the next sandilands just hopefully without the constant injuries.

Josh miller playing styles is very similars to someone, i just can't remember who it is although is a very interesting prospect at 205cm. With Archie smith, i've always disliked 2nd division players since we picked up tambling at 4. Although they are playing more games against division 1 teams now so wouldn't mind it that much.

I agree with this , the Swans did it with Stu Dew we should do it with Choc on the get your shit together when it counts clause . Bloody dick head club!

If we're going to chase a ruckman in the rookie draft then we should be looking at Scott Jones Darcy Fort Jack Leslie Archie Smith & Josh Miller.

Other players I'd be looking at are:
Brenden Abbott
Campbell Combe
Nick Favretto
Aidan Franetic
Aaron Heppell
Ben Kearns
Josh Pickess
Josh Scott

The above might not be popular picks but they are guys that I like the look of.

I'd be a little surprised if we don't end up with at least one of the group you've got there RT…For some reason N. Faveretto stands out, but I don't know anything about him to tell you the truth…What do you know about him ?

Not much outside his write up on the AFL site where they mentioned that he placed 5th in West Adelaides reserves B&F. Has a pretty good size about him and knows how to get hold of the footy averaging 22 disposals & 6 marks over 22 games last season. As a rookie pick we could do much worse.

Can find the ball. His only knock is he isn't damaging with his possessions, yet at the same time he isn't a butcher. He's just not going to hit Dusty like laser beams.

A kid with reliable skills should be what we're looking for, rather that than going for a X factor project type.

Why? The rookie draft is perfect for a project player.

I agree with both of you. We have 3 picks. Add a nice mature aged state-league player and that would be our 3 picks done.

It's the X factor project types I don't want. Happy to take a young ruckman or kpp type to work on for a couple of years, but not the flashy flanker/pocket types.

I reckon we are missing having one or two like Ballantyne and Walters at Freo. Guys that cause havoc but also chase and harass. Too often we play 2 guys to fill the role 1 of those guys at Freo plays. King for defensive pressure and Edwards for the offensive part. A lot of those guys in this draft can rotate off a wing as well.
