I remember lots of people reacting with shock and even anger when we picked up ASOS...some even suggested SOS was looking after his own family at the expense of the club...lol.

Bolts would have been watching him while he's trained with us as well so if SOS & Bolts are happy to pick him, i'm happy.

Shaw highlights.

Nice to read he is versatile and can play half back, wing and midfield so will definitely be an asset to our VFL team...could be an important mature player there to help our youngsters develop.

Who knows, could even do an ASOS and break into the senior team.
More depth equals more competition and puts more pressure on guys like Mullett, O'Brien & Garlett to perform which is also a good thing.

Welcome Matt. Lets not get too worked up, it is a rookie spot at the end of the day. I would have been a bit more annoyed if it were a senior spot, as I feel Boekhorst would have done the job for one more season. SOS has clearly stated what his role will be. From CFC.com.au;

Leadership, mature body, depth. I have no issues with Shaw as a rookie. If he isn't up to standard, well, we know what the potential outcome will probably be then in 12 months time. All the best, make the most of it!

An uninspiring pick but clearly they see a role for him at VFL level and he impressed enough over the past couple of weeks to earn another opportunity.

He's pretty ordinary but as a rookie I won't be losing any sleep over this pick. Good luck to him.
