Technically yes, but I wonder if missing out on the weeks break had anything to do with you blowing a 20 point three quarter time lead and allowing the Hawks to have 12 scoring shots to the cats 2 in the last quarter? Then again that could've just been the fatigue that comes with Chris Scott football.

Nah, I don't think either the Fremantle or Port finals had an effect in terms of fatigue. The team was simply too old. We had a great win against Sydney in Round 22 and then limped over the line against Brisbane in the final round. There were warning signs all year, even last year, with Joel Corey and it was ignored. Kelly and Lonergan declined noticeably this year. Josh Hunt was a fair enough inclusion as Enright was out, but as we all saw against Hawthorn he was shot to pieces.

No doubt at all losing that first final kills your chances. More and more it shows unless you win your Qualifying Final, you won't make the grand final. But I think it was as much the makeup of our team as well as missing the week off that killed us.

No excuses though - you guys were too good.

It must have killed you watching us ruin your season at your supposed home fortress.
And i wonder how many seasons have Geelong ruined over the past 7 years?
No matter what you say, no matter what you think, no matter where you might win a game, Geelong are the most successful team of the past 13 years, they have won more games, they have won 3 Premierships, they have ruined Fremantle many times. I guess you need something to hang your hat on over there, the one thing all Fremantle fans need to do is voice their dissatisfaction to the coach about his proven ineffective game plan when it really counts! He's 0-4 heading into his 8th season, he gets a lot of love for someone who fails so much. If your satisfied with a coach that plays ugly football that DOESN'T win Grand Finals then be happy with being the bridesmaid.

I'm not really a superstitious person but the fact that Lyon has squandered all four chances makes me 100% sure that he is cursed and no team will win a premiership with him as head coach.

what a load of BS
As a Cats supporter, I have sat through more loosing GF than I would like to remember, so when I say I would rather not make a GF than lose one, it's from experience. Losing a GF instantly kills any good feeling you may have had in making the GF and is much worse a feeling than being eliminated during the finals.

That would be accurate, if a) Corio was in the eastern suburbs of Melbourne, and b) tears now means laughing uproariously at Ballantyne missing sitters from 20m out.

I didn't actually think there was much that could unite Hawthorn and Geelong supporters. Ross Lyon's gameplan and Fremantle's superb choking in front of goal Grand Final day managed to achieve this. Kudos. :thumbsu:

See you in 44 years, Partridge. :thumbsu:

Cats fans should ponder whether Chris Scott is their man. Some staggering North-style football this year, and I don't see them tightening up defensively as the seasons progress - Enright soon to retire and not all that much quality down back aside from Taylor.
