Carlton have performed better than us since changing coaches and beat us to seal the deal. What an indictment that is. Carlton.

Must have a s**tload of 50 gamers, the way they’ve mysteriously and magically turned things around since sacking an underperforming coach.
But I thought wins weren’t important? Why are they even chasing them? Shouldn’t they be trying to just get a smaller losing margin instead?

All good mate, Ross said we don’t get judged on results. Also the only bloke in sport who can guarantee he’ll be here next year.

Nobody is bigger than the club. It’s too late in the season now to do anything about it, but if you don’t think Ross Lyon is the man to take us to our first flag then he has to be turfed this offseason. Get our young players into a system you believe will get us our next crack at a premiership, get them into the system ASAP, have them learn it from the start. Six weeks to go until the FFC board choose whether or not they draw a very clear line in the sand about who we are.

Injuries and poor form have certainly hurt us. Ross and co did extremely well in drafting Bennell, Cam Mac, Hogan, Lobb, Hill, Wilson and Hamling and on paper we should've been a force just with them.
Same goes for drafting A. Pearce, Blakely, Darcy and others. The environment should've been set for success.

And yet were going to miss finals four years straight, we can't find the goalposts much and the style of football has gone to completely unintelligible again.

Despite understanding the difficult circumstances, there's just too much pointing to a reality that shows continuous disappointment and underachievement. A bit tongue in cheek, but it just seems to be a 'Freo thing'.

No idea what fixes it.

As Vimal points out the first round draft failures are the issue. You can't blame Ross for 2009 to 2011, IMO I don't think the rest are either. However, those failures to have 7 first grade talented players in the team is why we were always going to fall off the cliff.
If anyone blamed Ross Lyon for Morabitos injuries is an idiot. I am still bitter and gutted on what might have been. I look at dudes career as both came from the 2009 draft

I'm not sure Fyfe would have won the 2015 brownlow if Morabito had never done his knee. That sort of flashy running winger/inside mid/half back would have drawn votes of him and who knows what could have happened.

big gap between our best and pest games. Again. At least we didn't lose by 59 points

Do you know how ridiculous this sounds when you are talking about someone who has literally drawn a GF that would have been a 5 point win if not for a bounce of the ball?

Do you realise just how ridiculous it is to select 1 incident from 120 minutes of football in isolation as the only result defining moment?

This 'bounce of the ball' crap is used by the Lyontologists to justify their claims that Lyon can coach us to a flag.

Well, no he can't. The game has gone past him and he doesn't have what it takes to adjust. He's coached 300 games and never coached a premiership. Not one. Bouncing balls mean diddley squat. Flags can be measured and his measure is zero.

Even Simpson, who has coached half the number of games as Lyon has developed a list and coached a flag. He may well get another one this year.

Lyon has coached an unbroken run of 9 losses to the slime. He's coached 10 losses from 11 games against Hawthorn. The fact that he keeps losing games the same way over and ******* over without making any adjustments is a big red flag that says "Not up to it".

It's well past time that Bell and the board live up to their responsibilities

Except we are improved and it's simple to see.

If your measure of improvement is the same as Lyon's in that our losses are by smaller margins then I guess you could say we've improved.

You'd be crazy to actually say that out loud but whatever.

The 'simple' facts don't indicate improvement.

A couple of 'simple' facts for you:

9 consecutive losses to the slimers (no improvement there)
10 games lost out of 11 games against Hawthorn (no improvement there)
Giving up a 31 point lead and then losing at home to a Carlton side that lost 2 players early in the game (I don't see that as any sign of improvement)

When things start happening in reverse ie Freo winning games instead of losing by smaller margins, then you can claim improvement but not before.

Simple isn't it

We beat the team that beat West Coast, on their home ground. We beat Brisbane, we beat GWS too on their ground.

A season is measured by the season, not individual games.

We've beaten half of the top eight, that's not terrible. Our losses are starting to blow out now but we are still ahead of last year on the number of beltings

2018 season 14th
2017 season 14th
2016 season 16th

2019 looks like being around 12-14.

It has never been clearer to me that the stumbling block right now is not Ross's fault. The Ross haters are blinded by that hate.

It's the cattle, no shred of doubt. Clarkson couldn't get a win with this lot at the moment. The youngens are getting tired and our structural players are getting very thin.

You could tell the shift in Ross's presser, he's had enough of the clangers too.. He has been in the players corner in every presser but even he can't at some point and there was a shift to firing a rocket right at the players today and I don't bloody blame him.

A credit to him for getting as much out of them this week.
