I'm pretty disappointed with this by the club. In my eyes Ross Lyon deserved to see the rebuild through for better or worse. He had put the runs on the board early on in his career and the list went off a massive cliff due to poor recruiting / list management.
The club committed to a path to takes us to sustainable success and after 4 months of WA media pressure and a few unhappy fans they have folded and gone in a new direction. I am seriously concerned that we are going to end up with the next Watters / Richardson or even worse Carlton's version of Malthouse. I sincerely hope I am wrong and that we appoint someone that takes us back to finals.

Agree! Totally gutless by the Board not sticking to their own plan.
Malthouse talked about how board members capitulate to pressure the other week, and everything he said has happened.

The only way going a week early would have made sense is if they had announced Allister Clarkson was the new coach.
We are now officially a rabble and the new St Kilda , old Richmond.

Disagree. This was an exercise in not accepting mediocrity. If we wanna be successful, sometimes we need to make the big decisions.
 
Yeah sorry Ripper, i think it's bold.
I like Ross, but something had to change.
My concern is Bell getting too powerful, and over-riding others.
Board will have to have "kahunas" here !!
Craig Carter seems to have moved up in the hierarchy

We’ve been the new Saint Kilda for years now.

Today we moved to not be Saint Kilda like. Today we took a leap forward.

Hale is interim and then they will start the selection process. Letting Lyon coach next year would be an exercise in futility and may end up ruling a few potential coaches out as they take other positions.

I will give you that the timing on this still feels weird, but only by a round.

Some people just lack discretion - I've heard bagging of our club and people in it from Suma, Schofield, Schloithe ... they must know there's a risk it might come back to bite you.

Why ? That was the plan we were sold, 2020 was the year.
How many years have Brisbane not finished Top 8? 2009 last time i can find.
They could actually win it this year.
Who's to say that Freo 2020 could not do the same?
 
I agree it’s better to make a move now than do it anyway after 2020. But no matter what you think about Ross, the whole dancing in the street mentality is in bad taste. He was here for a long time and I respect those times. It wasn’t all bad.

Bit unsettling! I have no idea if it’s just a plain old “thanks coach” type comment or if it means something more. Maybe I’m reading things into it. It’s been an eventful day.

A club that knew what it was doing, if that strategy had failed and they had reached a decision they really had to get rid of him, would not have done so without a clear transition plan already set, one week before the end of the season, and then appointed a lucky bricklayer and engineer to help choose his replacement.

I’m finding it impossible not to agree with all this,
I have zero confidence in freos board right now

Brisbane only started improving after the start of 2017, when they replaced their coach, CEO, List Manager and High performance manager.

Looks to have made smart decisions on the replacements which has made all the difference going bottom to top in 2 and a half years.

I think Fagan is in his third year so being realistic you may have to wait until 2022 before you can expect to be where Brisbane are. Mind you in saying that nothing is impossible🤔
