It's not just our recruiting staff that ignored WA talent, so did every other club that passed on them. It makes sense drafting players based on their ability to play football, rather than what state they come from. It's not like picking local boys is a sure thing either. For every one of those blokes you named, there's a dozen players that flop loke Leroy Jetta, Josh Simpson, Bennell, Houghton, Collard, McCarthy, Conca, Colyer etc. It's not like WA boys won't leave either, look at the talk around the Hill boys.
I'm fairness hill might not have met his vicco Lass if he was drafted by freo first.
But he would most likely be a ross lyon trained crab by now & delisted.

The “mediocrity” comment is an interesting one. Is this Ross trying to deflect?
It very much came across that way, didn't it? Over the last month he has avoided taking responsibility for our performance every time. Today it was "everyone else is bad, so it's ok", before that it was injuries, or umpires, or players making mistakes, or not measuring ourselves by victories.

Not once has he taken responsibility for bad selections, our terrible game plan, our low scoring, or our diabolical skill level.

His total inability to critically reflect suggests to me he is incapable of changing enough to take us to a flag any time soon.

So if they point at a group it is ok? Which means pointing haters at a group - it is a plural after all, is fine?

Sigh. You are looking for absolutes where it's obvious I can't provide them. It's all pretty straight forward, just respect your fellow posters, and expect respect in return. We try our best to be as consistent as possible, but like all other humans will get it wrong from time to time.

I'm not worried about today's result because we only had nine players that have played 50+ games for Freo out there, compared to the Bulldogs that had ten. I'd say we are on track.
Fremantle had 10 players with 50+ club game players, Bulldogs had 11.
Once again, Freo had the equal lowest in the round (ES, GC & SY also had 10).
It is the first game in 2019 that Fremantle have had double digits 50+ club game players (2019 ave 6.8). It included Sandilands, Ballas, BHill, Langdon & Mundy who could quite possibly all be gone from Freo's 2020 team due to retirements/trades.
That is, I am worried ... very worried. At this rate, Freo's rebuild may be a lengthy one.

If you add our best players are fyfe, Walters, Hill and Hill so any rebuild that goes much longer means they will not be playing.

He was taking the piss btw.

The likes on this post says it all.;)

I am a fan of Ross but I have a bad feeling about all this. Woke up his morning with a sense of dread.
It wouldnt surprise me at all if there is some type of press conference called mid-week :(

There was an eerie feeling after the game imo. But i stand by my prediction that he’ll either walk/sacked late afternoon in early October with freo releasing a short statement on their website. Freo don’t like the theatrics and would do it quietly.

I think if that were to happen, a press conference would occur....the old "In the best interests of the club we have all agreed to mutually part ways"....
I agree eerie feeling....More dread on my part....

Yeah it does seem that way but doom and gloom can do that to anyone. I can't see the club doing anything before the end of season unless they have a replacement in mind already and are sure about it. What would be the point?
For me playing the Bulldogs with 3 rucks was the end. Banfield should have played instead of Sandilands. Let Darcy go H2H with English all day. Simples.
I have supported Lyon and will continue to do so as he coaches the team I support however the players are drained. Our game plan falls short without those quality targets up the line.
Having an Asst. Coach for the rest of the season isn't going to improve anything either.

How an AFL coach thought it was a good idea to play all three of Sandi, Lobb and Darcy is truly fascinating in the most idiotic way. Especially at Marvel against arguably the quickest team in the comp. Horrendous decision that should never of been thought of to begin with, let alone let it happen.

I was looking for absolutes because you came out with a statement aimed at one side of the argument using absolutes. Sigh.

It is truly amazing the more you think about it. Especially as Sandi and Darcy are absolutely useless at contested marking.

At least he tried something different, if any of the smaller forwards in the forward line could lay a tackle it might pay off. Better then playing 5 short people in the forward line like we have the last 2 years.
