Is Ross still the man for the job?

In hindsight, Ross saying he has never coached better etc sounds like an early job interview. It’s obvious they waited until we were definitely mathematically out of finals contention to make the call.
I get the feeling the board decided a couple of months ago that it’s finals or bust for Ross & I reckon Ross new & so did Rosich, who didn’t agree with it.

Why would we be rebuilding, he got sacked because he hadn't made finals in 4 years so the expectation clearly on the next coach is finals in the near term, i.e. change the game plan and skills and make the most of our list

He seemed to indicate that the rebuild is still ongoing and we just don’t want to tread water anymore, but also that it wasn’t about results

But then on the other hand wasn’t afraid to throw out buzzwords like “being elite” or saying that we targeted finals?

Wonder when they decided finals was the target for 2019 because it seems like Ross didn’t think so because he assumed he was safe

Lyons presser will be about how its never as good as its bad as good as you are, followed by how he's never coached better in his life and then conclude by letting us all know that cobblers do the cobbling.

Need a lift to the airport?

The whole Hogan thing, hiring Micallef, then trying to replace him a few months later, this s**tstorm

I support what happened with the Hogan thing. Melbourne came out and said that the Hogan trade was going to be one of the biggest trades of all time, at least two early first round picks etc... Bell said goodbye and we got Hogan much cheaper. Nothing to see there at all imo.

Wasn't the Micallef stuff over a disagreement with Rosich?

This shitstorm is Bell's doing? Seems like Rosich had to go and that was the trigger for Ross going. Looks like Bell is clearing what needs to be cleared.

Whether Bell is any good remains to be seen but I'm all for what it looks like Bell is trying to do.

Be consistent? Are we rebuilding or no? Was it about results or no? Can’t be both

You don't think the new CEO and Coach will have input into that question and the future direction of the club?

It's not appropriate to come out the day of a decision like this and clearly state the future motives prior to assigning the new roles in high end management. There are business protocols in play, unfortunately this goes over the head of some emotional fans.

It will probably be as independent as the Roos and Blues searches, all footy clubs hide behind cliched words but they all pretty much operate as a boys club anyway

Except in the Blues case it was supporter driven, Hale won't have that liberty.
I'm nervous on this panel, i want someone with huge "kahunas" to override the panel

Oh and don’t forget sue Murphy!!!... she’s got a deep analytical football mind no doubt too
Sue is a very clever lady. She may not be a football expert, but she knows what it takes to be a leader.

She's very highly respected in the Engineering field.

I am feeling nervous about the direction of the club. Ross and Rosich were such strong pillars. Reckon this could go both ways, give us some needed enthusiasm or it could really fracture the club. Just reading Sonny Walters instagram post has made me a little teary. Hope the club know what they are doing.

I'm equally suspicious. Sacking Lyon one game before the end of the season, combined with the weird press conference, isn't exactly confidence inspiring. It's a different feeling to when Harvey was sacked.

But the independent panel aren't exactly dummies.

Yeah, Can't help thinking Rosich was a minority of one in proposing to keep Ross Lyon. When the rest decided no he walked out. When they told Ross he said "what's the point of me coaching at all next year then if you've already decided not to renew after that?". So they said, OK fair point, we'll pay you out.

Gee That’s great , really reassuring

but where in the business of (trying) to win football matches not working out the structural integrity of concrete culverts.
