I'm fully in support of respecting the privacy of the individual here, thats a non-negotiable matter but the club stating that they are bound by a policy and cannot say anything makes them look like weasels with something to hide. You can still make a statement, accepting blame if deserved and ask for people to respect the wishes of the injured party. You could even go so far as to tell people not to cast aspersions on the character of the victim as she has done nothing wrong. You can do all that and still maintain her privacy.

But right now, the club looks like it has something to hide, whether it does or not.

They need to be stronger here but in the media, they've looked very, very weak

Who knows what 'actually happened' as opposed to what is being hinted at in the HUN.

Most on here would recognise that IF it happened the way it was reported then Lyon (or whoever the perpetrator actually is) is at risk of being sanctioned up to and including being dismissed. Before that happens, its has to be confirmed that it is Lyon and no official statement has done that and if so, did it happen the way its been reported or was it different in real life.

If he's broken the law then the penalty is what is applicable under the law.

I'm seeing very few on here or anywhere claiming nothing happened but I have seen a few (non Freo) posters blame the victim and that is shit on their part.

The difference here is that was a bunch of individuals doing what they wanted. They chose to do illicit drugs. They didn't have a senior club official try and force drugs on them.

Trying to link illicit drug use to workplace sexual harassment and bullying is pathetic. One eyed follow the jumper bullshit.

This is much worse and has larger implications than just football for many young women in the workplace who have to deal with this shit everyday.

The media organizations that are putting this information out there are doing so without being able to give direct quotes from the parties who are bound by the confidentiality agreement so as such they are reports said to be from unnamed sources.

As all the information is at least 2nd hand the only "blatant" thing here is that the story sells papers and one media organization The Herald Sun (who didn't break the story) is in competition for readers with a different version of the story that the Age put out earlier in the week.
