I love the comments about Prestia and Houli out.

They're trying to phrase it nicely, but they're being fairly clear that although they could have played, they decided that because it's only Carlton, it wasn't worth the risk.

Seeing the outs I figured the Ins would be Short, Bolton, Conca and C Ellis. Come in here and that seems to be the consensus. So I guess I have nothing to add. And yet here I am, posting anyway.

Probably true, but having been watching replays of the late season games from last year (I'm counting down, 1 game/day...), Markov was right up there until the end of H&A and didn't do a hell of a lot wrong. Judging by the pre season selections, it seems he didn't have a great off season, but you'd think he wouldn't be too far off.

Yes/no.

If there is risk associated with them playing (re-injury, or just setting recovery back), then you assess the importance of the game when deciding if you take that risk.

Case in point..

"Bachar was close and we could have rolled the dice and played him but round one games are so quick and fast and his recovery would then been hindered and he wouldn't have got enough training in," Hardwick said on Thursday.

If this had been a hard, vital, 50/50 game, then going by that quote I think he might have been given the nod.

Mils is a great extractor inside mid, no argument from me there, but every other mid in our team can play multiple positions he cant. That is why he isnt playing and we want to look at alternative players like CEllis and Lloyd

we all have our own views and ideas on what we should do. In some ways this game would be an ideal game to start to get some games into the likes of Moore and Garthwaite.
Main reason is i want some games into these kids as they are the most likely to come into the team if injuries do hit our regular talls. At least this way they have some exposure at the level which would make the transition easier if we do cop injuries to JR, AR, DA. .Besides we all acknowledge the need for a second tall fwd well most of us do even the coaches as well.

I thought Lloyds VFL season last year and his JLT and ability to go forward put him in the box seat.

Lloyds VFL form was superb last year, but his AFL form was shit, his AFLX form was shit, and he did nothing in JLT compared to others to push him above young kids IMO

Miles can be relied upon to get his 20 plus touches, 10 contested possesions, 5 clearances and 4 tackles a game.
I dont get this nonsense and that is what it is, utter nonsense, when people say the game has passed him or he doesnt suit our game style.
The same people want a slow underperformed undersized kid who has showed all the signs of not liking the contest and want him to play in prestia"s role instead of the bloke who has the runs on the board.

Think people have mentioned he gets burnt on the rebound so would have wanted to tidy that up considerably.

Something is on the nose cause he only played 5 games in 2017 and the match committee got it pretty spot on in 2017.
