That's not necessarily true. Every half decent team, according to history, has had a shitty loss or two.

Looking at the 2018 season, we can see that every team in the top 8 has had a disappointing off-day at some point or another during the year. Whilst they're not exactly to the tune of our margin today, they're pretty close - enough to warrant a "smashing" title (with addition of junk time goals). Ours could just happen to have come quite early.

Keep in mind though, that the only top 8 team to have not had a loss margin exceeding 35 points or more, was the one that placed 8th.

Food for thought.

While we have a reason to be bitter, there's no reason to assume we're due to be stuck by a fork.
Yes there is. You don't expect a change when there is literally no evidence of change. We've been going through the same cycle for 15 years. You don't look at a 72 point loss and think "wow I actually think we've changed so much for the better. What an aberration". That's called day dreaming success. Our players probably day dream about premierships more than working for it. It's a fantasy to tell me that this 72 point loss will follow the path of teams that have won multiple finals over the last 4 years.

For those pointing at the gps numbers (for both us and gws), it was hot and particularly humid in sydney today.

Doesn't excuse the half-assed.one-way running from us by any means, but worth noting
Was it dry and cool for GWS? Literally a difference of almost 100KM cannot be put down to weather conditions.

Glad to see Zaharakis having a good time after the game.

Not only would I drop him, I’d be making it publicly known he’s been suspended.

Giants second last too. :drunk:

If that is accurate, and the lack of pressure we put on GWS would indicate it is, then the playing groups really needs their arses kicked. It’s concrete evidence that they weren’t trying.

That explains GWS being the second last by a margin but within the boundaries of normality...doesn’t explain us covering 100 km less than them.

I would really like to understand this...can’t really recall seeing an AFL statistic quite like it. Such a gap.

No way we make finals.
I think Hepp has to go as captain. There was absolutely zero troop rallying going on out there.
Play the guys who show effort only. If we are going to lose by 10 goals anyway we may as well train for effort.
2 first round draft picks out... big overestimation of the list. Premiership window closed for some time yet.

Despite how horrible today was .. i just wonder if we kicked the first 2-3 goals the result would of been different..
Early misses can certainly set the tone for the day, especially when we had lots of entries.

After all the hard work, they get gimme goals from turnovers & soft frees, flattens us

We knew we had GWS

Thats an average of 6.7 km per player. Surely it is not correct. For every bloke that ran 10kms...we had others running 4.
These numbers need to be shown at the club this week. They also need to be shown to Crow who needs to be asked to explain.

It’s literally walking speed for everyone on the ground for more than 30 mins.

As plain as the egg on Annings head, players stopped running after the 3rd goal in the first quarter.
Woosha said the players looked "shell shocked", pot calling the kettle black!
Gives me the impression he just doesn't know where to go from here!
But i remember following a senior team in the 2nd teir comp. who got smashed by 160+ points in round 1 and then won the next 7.
6 days is a long time in footy!

"I would never accuse any of the players of not giving their all, but their 'all' was well below what we would like from each other." - Woosha press conference

I think you just did, John!

We were completely non-competitive - as though it was another JLT game, where nothing was on the line. How is that possible?
