Forever?
Will we have players missing Grand Finals in 10 years time because they tested positive and have nothing other than a runny nose?
I didn’t say forever - I meant for the near term.

You can get COVID more than once and you can also have to isolate as a close contact.Pretty sure I heard somewhere that 80% of AFL players have already had Covid.
And the majority of the 20% who haven't had it yet were from the two WA teams.
I think it will be Freo and Eagles who have the biggest issues with Covid (at least for the start of the season) based on this.
Big Boy & Breust.
I could live with those two more than Sicily and Hardwick.
I didn’t even realise Ward who were was battling a calf complaint…
And other teams will be similar unless they had COVID parties in the preseason - and yes I know you can catch again but recovery is clearly better for most who have repeat boutsIt honestly should be no surprise if each week we have 1 or 2 missing because of Covid.
The good thing is that the players should only ever miss a week and not more.
Seems like the close contact isolation rules will be gone in a month or two so that won't be a factor soon. You can get COVID more than once and you can also have to isolate as a close contact.
Not great but not the worst outcome either to be honest. So if true:
Big Boy out - Both Reeves and Lynch play
Breust out - Macdonald plays fwd
Hardwick out - Howe or Morrison plays back.
I know someone that had Covid twice in 35 days. Unlucky but possible.Seems like the close contact isolation rules will be gone in a month or two so that won't be a factor soon.
You can get it more than once but I think you get a good 3 months immunity after you have had it.
Will still be a factor but hopefully not as big an issue as the season rolls on.
It’s only Breust and Big Boy from what has been saidSo if true:

Hardwick out - Howe or Morrison plays back.
Hope you're right. We need Fear the Beard to come through with the latest info. It’s only Breust and Big Boy from what has been said
Punky would be a huge loss. It’s only Breust and Big Boy from what has been said
Thanks for the intel Fear The BeardAt time of writing, Sicily is good to go.
With covid we know a lot can change quickly though.
Are we allowed to pick players from our top up list if it is only a couple player or do we need pick from our main list first ?.
For what its worth, 71% of The Age "experts" tipped us to win.
It's the AFL, they will make up what's fair play or not on the spotThe wording around the rule is you have to have
- 28 or fewer players available
- at least 1 player would have to be absent due to covid protocols, and
- it would not be "reasonable" to play another listed player
What's "reasonable"? I'm sure according to clubs, it would be 'any selection that might help us win a game'. And according to the AFL it's probably along the lines of 'any selection that wouldn't generate too many "rorting the system" articles in the press'.
For round 1 I doubt that Hawthorn would have fewer than 28 listed players available for selection so top-ups won't come into it.
Our list is that bad that you’d rather “top up” players than Hawthorn listed players? Are we allowed to pick players from our top up list if it is only a couple player or do we need pick from our main list first ?.
