nothing wrong with his fitness played role in 2nd half, he will go ok under RTBThat's a concern given he didn't miss a single training session over the preseason from what I understand.

Bloke is a stud, and clearly has the attributes to be a star. One of the things I loved about Phillipou's game, boy has got noodle like arms and is very obviously a first year player. But so many times he came backing into a contest or marking pack in our forward 50, eyes purely for the ball and focusing on timing his leap right. Not one eye on the ball, one eye on the pack he going going back to, did it multiple times.
You could easily forgive a first year player for being hesitant in those situations but it seem like he's just hit the ground running and playing like he belongs.
There is fitness and there is football fitness. Isn’t there yet but getting closer according to someone who certainly knows.nothing wrong with his fitness played role in 2nd half, he will go ok under RTB
He had a few shanks, but to be fair to him they were at the end of some considerable run from him. Popped up at all the right moments, and sent a couple of beauties inside 50.Really pleased for Brynes he probably needs to tidy up his disposal a bit but he gave us some real running power and work rate out there today.
did Sharman steal your gf or what?

Wilkie is such a gun. Pretty much never gets beaten. To destroy Fyfe like that is seriously outstanding.Wilkie kept Fyfe to 9 disposals and 1 behind. (Phillipou had 16 disposals and a goal in a similar role). Wilkie collected 24 for himself.

Next week will be interesting. A lot of pressure on the Dogs to respond.Hard work beats talent when talent doesn't work hard is basically the story of the game.
Amazing how far mental application, resilience and great effort can take you
We have nothing to lose and will give them a real shake if we bring the same level of effort.Next week will be interesting. A lot of pressure on the Dogs to respond.
Can't wait.
I can see Byrnes really being our version of Ed LangdonThere were times that there just wasn't a tall option so we went through a smaller player. They absolutely manhandled Caminiti and he worked his way through it. The guy has an incredible work rate. Byrnes has got himself ridiculously fit, he runs end to end at pace the entire time and can still put the jets on.
Plenty of older players looked like they were slower to adjust than the kids but the outcomes are going to sell them on the reward for effort game.
Special mention to Phillipou who when we needed to find something he came up out of the forward line to provide really important blocks and little efforts for others. He's got game sense that can't be taught. He's our Fyfe in a few years.
Howard and Steele look like they are miserable and not yet on board the Ross train but hopefully they come around.
Is he even that?Fyfe is a poor man’s Owens
No it’s no secret and it wasn’t him. If people can’t understand fitness to footy fitness that’s on them with their knowledge. Some weird stuff here. Who is winning on points? I’m enjoying the win and actually watched 3 games live. Are you throwing Lenny under the bus?
he didn't steal anything from me but he might have tricked some fans into thinking he should have played today, even think he tricked some into thinking he should have playing in place of Cordy.did Sharman steal your gf or what?
Our defence was very good last year but looks like it may have gone to another level. Our defence was great with Wilkie, Battle and Howard chopping off entries.
Pressure up field made it easier for them though, Lyon knows how to create pressure and Freo wilted under it.
We would have belted them if it wasn't for the umpires giving them an armchair ride.
Bring on the Bulldogs, let's go 2-0 Saints.
Structure up the ground to me but so hard to know. Our defence was very good last year but looks like it may have gone to another level.
Very exciting.
