Maginness as a lockdown defender seems like the biggest no brainer for mine. As an elite tagger it’s what he does.
Most teams have elite mids, but one of the key weapons for teams is the hbf with elite kicking skills that sets up play going forward - Young (Freo), Saad (Carlton), Daniel (WB) etc. Surely Maginness can be deployed as a tagger in either of these positions and if a suitable matchup isn't found then lockdown on a Charlie Cameron type as a backman?

Or is he being repurposed as a primary shutdown defender with the option to tag up the ground?

Either way for me he is a best 23 lock.

Does anyone know when tickets go on sale for rounds 1-3? Only tickets I see where you can purchase tickets is round four.

The AFL world is gonna have its mind blown when it's discovered Toby Greene is just a poor man's Hardwick..

No Day makes a close game that much tougher.

Provided everyone else remains fit, this is the team and lineup that I'd love to see:

Hardwick - Blanck - Mitchell
Scrimshaw - Sicily - Weddle

Reeves - Worpel - Nash
Amon - Newcombe - Ward

Moore - Lewis - MacDonald
Watson - Chol - Breust

Bench:
Ginnivan - Mackenzie - Impey - Maginess

Sub:
CJ (pending fitness, I'm unsure on his timeline)

Is that your best 23, It looks good, ... it will be interesting where Hardwick plays, and Amon will be in defence.

Not sure we can have Butler, Ginnivan, Watson and Breust all running around in the same 22

If Amon is going back as flagged who fills the wings? Ward seems one. CJ has been mentioned but will he be fit / be proficient enough in new role? Does Croc fill the other side? Or weddle? Maybe Moore moves up to fit in other forwards?

Weddle makes the most sense to me. Nightmare match up

I think Hardwick as a forward is something we should only see when we're 15 goals down and don't look like scoring.

Not sure how this slipped through to the keeper...

Honestly, I'd hope the move was made much earlier than that. The game is done when you are 15 goals down.

But can Weddle play as a winger? Amon is our by far our best wing, not sure why we wouldn’t play him in that position.
Played half back most of last half of the season. Clearly the club rates his kicking from there.

I can see a world especially with Day out where they trial Amon and D’Ambrosio down the left side HB and Wing with Ward going inside mid. I want weddle to stay back with more ground to run forward and push mackenzie or CMac to the right wing.

Day plays round 1 for mine.

I think we would all want that.

Stress fractures in feet not anything to trifle with though, probably needs 8 weeks rest from diagnosis.

Saying that from my armchair a hemisphere away, and I'm not a doctor.

But I do watch too much sport, and I feel very strongly about Day recovering from this successfully.

Have heard twice now from people who are connected that Days issue is not a major concern.

The club would be doing everything to make sure it heals as fast as possible. Immobilisation, nutrition and physical therapy are all going to be Will's best friend the next 7-8 weeks. Nutrient flow and circulation are essential for the healing of a bone fracture so I'd assume that is going to be a huge focus for him which likely already is as it would be for all our players.
