Does anyone know which foot bone is fractured? I've not seen that published. Some are nasty, such as the navicular and even trivial Vth metatarsals stress fractures can be slow to heal.
The navicular bone in the foot like the scaphoid in the hand are both slow to heal due to slow blood supply which is needed to heal a fracture. From the 6-8 week prognosis I'd say it's one of his metatarsal.

should put some leeches on that foot.

I am not a doctor.

Leeches would just eat the rabbit's foot he should have hanging from his toes.

Alas, I am not a real Witch Doctor...
Can we please put an end to these outdated medieval ideas? We need to embrace rational science here...

I recommend a homeopathic dilution of St John's Wort, diluted 100 times.

If that doesn't work...dilute it 100 more times for extra strength...

What are peoples thoughts for the Rd 1 side.

FB: Weddle, Blanck, Scrimshaw
HB: Impey, Sicily, Amon
C: Jiath, Worpel, D'Ambrosio
HF: Moore, Lewis, Ginnivan
FF: Hardwick, Chol, Bruest
Foll: Reeves, Newcombe, Nash
Int: Mackenzie, Ward, Mitchell, Macdonald
Sub: Watson/Gunston

Couldn't fit Maginness in but he might come in for someone if he has a job.
Also not to sure about the wings Jiath, D'Ambrosio are not yet proven for us in that role, maybe Moore/Macdonald rotate through them and we bring in another forward.

It seems to fit with training updates/positions, a strength now is who misses out. It looks like a versatile side.

Believe Watson will play. We definitely have individuals competing.
And Butts could play a high half forward role.
Yep, can see it, who misses to accommodate those two, Mitchell and D'Ambrosio?
Good problems to have.
Preseason training and games will be competitive.

Is CJ anywhere near fit does anyone know?

Thought we were still being cautious with him?

If J is out - I would love to see Weddle up the ground and give Hustwaite a few games down back

196cm and 90kg - he's got the size, and I believe, the skill.

Really want to see Weddle tearing up the MCG expanses.

But Henry Hustwaite - I reckon he could really be quite some player - we need to get games at the highest level into him asap.

I know lots of people see Gunston as walking back into the side, but I’m not at all convinced.
For Gunners to even be considered to walk back into the team, he must first take part in some of the match simulation and contact work rather than be in the rehab group away from the rest of the team. Was hoping to ask about that yesterday in Punky's presser

I am not sure Mitchell is in the best 23 for now. Needs to get back to full training and show improvement, build on last year..
Don't underestimate Serong or Bailey Mac in that back line either.
Gunners needs to be fit, but does offer so much to our forwards re experience and guidance.
I wonder if only one of Ginni or Watson get a gig first up?
The next two months and the practice matches will be very interesting indeed. Any of perhaps 6 players may be unlucky if they miss out. Some newbies will shine and some locks will falter.

Gunners is a lock if fit.
The gunners of last year was a fair bit down on his 2022 self. Which was a long way short of his 2020 and early playing ability.

He seems on a downward trend and at his age it’s hard to turn that around.

Gunners anywhere near his best is a lock. It doesn’t appear he’s that same Gunston anymore unfortunately.

We're up to 25 locks by my count. Couple that with our 18 youngsters who should bolt in the team, 14 oldsters who will deserve their way in with some serious reputations this preseason, and 33 genuine superstars who should be pushing for All-Australian, and we must be close to the best team in the league, maybe even the world.

FB: Dimma, Blanck, Impey
HB: Weddle, Siss, Scrim
C: Amon, Worps, Ward
HF: Moore, Chol, Gunston
FF: Wiz, Lewis, Bruest
Foll: Reeves, Newk, Day

Bench/Sub: Nash, McDonald, Ginnivan, Finn, Frenchie

With the likes of Ramma, CJ, Huss, Mitchell, Bailey, Frosty, D’Ambrosio, Meek, Stephens fighting it out for a spot while developing young McCabe/Bodie/Dear/Tucker our list is in great shape with some of the best depth we’ve had in years.

I know Amon and Dimma have been training in different positions but I reckon at training Sammy is working on developing players to play in multiple positions and we will definitely see Amon at HB and Dimma forward at times. Go Hawks.

I think that is an overly pessimistic take. I doubt we would have added him to the list if we did not think that he could contribute on the field. If we just wanted him as a mentor, we could have hired him in that capacity. My read is that he is being eased in (which is often the way for veterans during the pre-season) but that he will be given every opportunity to resume the third marking forward role that he played with such distinction in the past.

Assumed Day will still be out Rd1.
I am not seeing it. We're 8 weeks from Round 1, he'll likely be back running in another 3 weeks. Plenty of time to get ready for Round 1.

👍 he came off right in front of us after a chat with trainers sat down at the tent took the boots and socks off for a better look. Did not look serious at all ……. no limp or anything. We just gotta make sure it’s 110% right to nip it in the butt as footy is a brutal game over a long season. Will adjust my Rd1 team then 😀

Gunners main issue last year was homesickness.

Homesickness might have played a part in his form. But it doesn’t really explain how poorly he was moving last year.

Since his back issues he’s been moving significantly worse than he used to.

Still a smart footballer so he can find the goals but he’s a long way from where he was.
