After watching the replay, I have reassessed Perryman's game.
He didn't get a lot of possessions, but he did a lot of team first little things that don't show on the stat sheet.
And when he did get the ball, he was good with it, like his exquisite kick to McStay early in the third quarter that led to a goal.
He has high footy IQ, and is a really good ball user.

One small gripe - the scoreboard at the G last night was very slow to update scores (it felt like minutes) and sometimes got it wrong. When Membrey kicked his fourth, the scoreboard congratulated him on his third goal.

Also, the scores on the big screens are in a new graphic format - goals in big font and behinds in much smaller font - and at least one of the older fans near me (ahem) couldn’t read the behinds.

Another also, the scoreboard shows the time lapsed in quarters, but no longer the time of day.

Like I said a small gripe - but they’ve had six months to get this right and it’s gone backwards.
Obviously the AFL had a project focused strategically seconded high performance task force working in deep collaboration with leading global scoreboard specialists...

and they still stuffed it up

Steele gets a special wax and sunscreen allowance instead
I'm in the same camp unfortunately. You shouldn't have to apply sunscreen for a game of footy, unless you live in a place like Perth.

Playing footy in Perth in April and still getting sunburnt. Pretty happy with the move 10 years ago, but intraclub soccer matches in Doncaster when it's 34 degrees certainly take me back.

I'd love JHF to come and play for the real Magpies.
He's a bloody good player.
Imagine a midfield pairing of Nick and JHF!
I think he's great going forward, but seems to lack the discipline that the very best have. His departure from North to me said more about him than it did North.

I reckon introduce skivvys and legionnaires caps for hot days instead

Long a strong game.
MMMs v good
Jamie seemed lively and had "bounce"
Schultz applied pressure
Was disappointed with the amount of support Nick receive in the first 10 mins with his tag - our stronger / senior players really needed to harass / bump etc his opponent more.
Reef seemed a little more settled.
I love Perryman.
Houston great.

Thought we were much better delivering into F50.

The tackling. the effort.
Loved Nick's comments about not doing that for the supporters last week.
Sometimes supporting Nick is more easily fixed just by responding on the scoreboard… with or without nicks help. In fact all the better if it’s without his help.

It sends the message that there are 18 players out there they need to worry about and if they waste their time targeting one, then that opens up opportunities for the other 17 to score.

JHF was the one player for them that didn’t look like he wanted to give up.
The rest of them honestly looked like they wanted us to just put them out of their misery

Rozzee was good. They're a really shallow team and have been for years. When Port supporters get their wish and Kenny leaves, they'll be worse. They've done really well to be so competitive recently.

Yep.
It was a fun night for us but nothing to get carried away with.

Still one of the most Hated Players in the AFL
