Very very shaky start when Port were fresh and able to put that elite pressure on in Q1 and half of Q2.
As that eased we got our game going then Port had no answers great turn around and ended up a solid win.

Should make for a great ANZAC day game, and hopefully we can keep the momentum rolling now and turn this season around long term. Still got some work to do from the top 4 or so sides imo.

Went to the game - shaky start 😕. After that easily our best game for the year and our most convincing win for a long time.

It was a pleasure to watch our run and dare when it got going.

Their kicking kept them in it early on.

Well done boys.

I thought they really defended the stoppages very well and when it turned over had too much speed and space to move it quickly away.
This in turn puts the defensive structure in no man's land, meaning easy goals.

Moore playing 10 to 15m in front when there is no pressure makes him look all at sea and poor. When the mids put the work in he looks a genius.

We invited the pressure with our horrendous basic ball use and constant fumbles.

Once we stopped fumbling….port were always (amzingly) a second late to put pressure on.

The first qtr was largely self inflicted.

They had sway for most the 2nd quarter too.
Wasn't till half way through it that the momentum slowly swung our way and we kept on with it, especially the last 10 mins of that Q.

We fumbled because they were all over us like a rash. Credit due to them. They also can't keep up that level of pressure due to it being so energy sapping.
They looked a split second off because they were spent and we adjusted some things.

WHE was reborn today. He was completely dominant today, particularly in the air. He must have really enjoyed the bye, because he played like he was a 21 year old running around today. He was superb....
He was great today and hopefully keeps it up all year.

TBH most older players (Pendles and Steele included atm) have games in seasons where they look young again but on the whole of the season you can see thier age has gotten them a bit.

Nah don’t agree. They kicked 2 cheapies at the start of Q2, but we owned territory and stats beyond that (on balance of play).

When you re-watch Q1 (as I know you will :) ), have a look at how Many basic handballs
Land at the feet or are ahead/behind. as well as fumbled pickups.

Those things invite the pressure and allowed them the outside.
Once we controlled the ball better, they looked helpless.

Pressure mostly came because we had poor handling.

Nah onto Essendon in 5 days, we can agree to disagree on Q1 different views on it I think Ports pressure caused the tentativeness and fumbling, where as you think it was caused thier pressure (which doesn't explain how they structured mass numbers around the outside of the contest) to me they set up to do it and executed very well in Q1 and just under a half of Q2.

Currently watching GWS vs Carlton before I start work at 19:30.
Both teams looking quality this year.
