Round 1 Discussion - Lets Get the Season Underway

I was pissed I chose Walsh + $ over Dunkley but now it looks like an amazing deal.

Same here. I left nearly $300k in the kitty to do Xerri to Pittonet next week and Walsh to someone who isn't randomly a stay at home forward.

Not sure what to think of this round. Dont have Grundy, thought I was a gonna based solely on that, but seemed to come back to the rest of the world so that saved me, sort of, Crispy creme was either full on or full off, nothing new there, but first time owner so painful to see it. Appears the best thing to do is just hold on for the ride. Dont hold dunkley, after him being in the team three times. Cant have em all, cant miss em all it would seem. Now to see if Sam Jacobs can just get 115 to match Grundy and I'll be right back in it. It could happen. Ooooh a pig flying......

What i learned from tonight is everyone needs to pivet and get rid of the 800k plus guys. Game is too short and seems like will be much less junk time than usual. I dont know why everyone is rejoicing in Grundys score. He absolutely annihilated English and was everywhere around the ground and still only got 114. He wont be anywhere near this dominant the rest of the games against the better rucks. At 900k he will loose u soo much money then everyone will be crying. Believe it or not i think English is still much better value. He cant have played worse and got to a respectable 50+. He will play much better than this the rest of the year and will keep his value or worse case loose u very little cash. Grundy gonna make everyone bleed. Just watch.

Grundy did nothing in the second half. Was benched a lot in Q3 too. If the game is on the line his TOG will be much bigger. Those without Grundy got off lightly tonight. They will adjust BEs to account for the lower scores across the board. Crae, Dunks and Whit maybe you can get away with not having those 3 but Grundy is on another level this year. The Pig was very merciful tonight

I hear u guys but what i took from the game is collingwood will rest him up forward when its a blowout which isnt good cause they look really good this year.I just dont see the slam dunk like everyone is seeing.

Lol mate, you need to really rethink this statement. 114, is 142.5 with an adjusted score (20% less or 1/5th due to quarters being 4 minutes shorter). He'll go up by 10K or so, instead of losing cash from this game.

PPM is the indicator here, meaning it's not how much someone costs but how quickly they can rack up a score in the shortened time. Someone like Zerrett usually plays around 73-75% TOG, but scores 110-120. If he keeps those numbers but that 73-75% becomes 85%+ - due to him being on ground the same amount of time but the percentage being higher - then his 110-120, becomes 135-150.

Players costing less isn't the issue here. Only players who already play big minutes - Crisp, Daniel, Sicily, Whitfield, Gaff etc. - are. They won't get much of a 'bump' and will probably lose cash, because even if they play the whole game on ground, they're not getting the same score increase as players like Nic Nat and Zerrett. If Grundy had of continued on in the second half in the same fashion as the first half, he would have scored 156 (195 adjusted). That is no small amount.

Expected more from him in the first half, an extra 15 points would’ve been nice. Hopefully see him tear it up vs Pittonett next week.

Frustrating game from Dunkley also and regrets of not picking Smith who seemed everywhere. Not sure what to make of scores just yet... it’s definitely going to be a weird season.

I actually didn't see until now that English got 56. That's actually a miracle given he was on about 3 when I threw all my toys out of the cot and switched off af half time. Bont with the C was a killer. Dunkley was a miss. Bailey Smith punished me too. Was high on him and I was a coward and couldn't pick him in the end. All in all, a night of misery that will likely be compounded by more atrocities tomorrow. But there I'll be for bounce down tomorrow, queuing up for what will be the equivalent of a bat sandwich straight out of Wuhan. What a game this fantasy thing is!

708/7+C - If I didn’t have Grundy and him as my captain I could’ve been in all kind of problems.

The seven players I’ve had play have been Crisp, Doc, Macrae, Cripps, Pickett, Grundy and Martin.

Crisp was very poor (thank goodness for his junktime points), Grundy was unreal. Collectively everyone else together has pretty much scored on par. I’ve only had one rookie play so far, ideally I would’ve liked to have scored a bit more.

I flirted with Bailey Smith for about 15 minutes at one stage through the pre season, so I can't claim him.

But I asked in the planning thread about him after the Acres injury. Why didn't one of you convince me more!

Gee it seems like Ceglar has been talked about a heap on here, but he's under 2% owned. Three of my forwards are under 2% actually- Cegs, Bewley, Rowbottom. Fingers and toes are crossed.
