I agree.
He’s the biggest freak in the league but he does far too much brain dead stuff.
Something with the surname starting with B and is very similar pronunciation at the other end of the ground when it comes too brain dead moments.
Did we draft wrong?

Fix our entries to the forward line and our shots at goal… we’ll be fine …. I know it’s easy to say after but Cumberland would have been handy … I feel we dominated parts of the game but just couldnt capitalise …we didn’t win but I think we showed we ain’t done yet

Random collection of thoughts from the game.

  • First time I’ve ever walked out of a draw with a smile on my face! We avoided disaster, so I was relieved. Always the most stressful game round 1.
  • Forward 50 entries were shocking. Almost every kick was to the advantage of the defender. Left Jack and Tom almost nothing to work with to even get the ball to ground. If Lynch didn’t start monstering second half it was over.
  • Daniel Rioli, deadset gun. Getting better every time we see him. Special player.
  • We actually won the midfield battle. Never thought I’d see the day. TT is a star. Hopper was okay and will have to grow into the season, but good signs.
  • Maybe we should trust the fitness staff more. Lynch, Graham, Short, Marlion all looked good
  • Grimes was back to his best. Best game he has played in a year. Hope those hammys can last a bit longer.
  • Bolton, my boy. gotta take the good with the bad. No excuses, he had to kick those goals but we don’t get any of the other special moments telling him not to play the way he does.
  • We’re a better team than that mob. They’re a decent side but we were able to stop their ball movement completely. Forced them to go long to our advantage. We must capitalise though. Big learnings.

I know run and gun is our thing but I feel like we handball way too much. How many times did we turn it over looking for a slick hand ball when a long kick would've been much more damaging.

i agree - if you're going to turn it over, better to be 50m down the track - and - big plus if the kick is to advantage ....

good result seeing we were down a goal with 85 seconds remaining and Carlspoon had it on their terms only to fluff it up again just like last year
so nuthings changed but unfortunately nuthings changed with our last kick into the FWD line as well, its abysmal
Hats off to our backline, stellar effort to quell the last 2 coleman winners, our backline kept us in it,all of them were mighty all night
i thought Voss out coached Dimmer in that Carlton forever had an open fwd line to kick into and we never did,not in the first 2 1/2 qtrs anyway
On this . We've always had that issue with a crowded fwd line vs the less so at opposite end.
While it may look messy at our end it helps when it comes too fwd line pressure(perceived pressure).Hence why last night and our flag years it worked so well.
Lunchs last mark was due too exhausted weitering due too us continually bombing the ball back in due to our set-up.
So not sure if Voss out coached dimma in the end as it was the same dimms as the previous 6yrs.

Always takes a few weeks to get that forward handball game going, especially this year with a new look midfield. There were several times where Hopper stifled our offensive run still trying to play that slow perfect kicking GWS game.

It'll all come together though I'm sure.

My fave part was when Prestia gave the ump a spray for being a useless campaigner for not playing an obvious free kick
He was clearly being held ump gives 50 against him for abuse, white maggots did their best to get the Blues across the line.

We’ve got a bit to work on, however I’m not writing us off yet.

just want to say I love it when Lynch fires up and throws his weight around, it’s when he plays his best football.

Also Dan cutting Carlton up through the middle with his run off half-back, it’s such a site to see. He‘ll get tagged this year, I hope he can quickly learn how to deal with it.
Best career move ever.

Or bring Samson in as 2nd ruck and leave Miller back.
I reckon Ryan would've been the difference last night, it stretches every opposition backline. Hope we start playing he and Cumbo. Much more dangerous.

I would do this if Tarrant is still out.

Leave Miller down back as a permanent 7th defender, move Baker forward in place of Mansell and play Ryan as a third tall forward.

Have Nank guarding the back half with his intercept marks and never venturing inside 50. When he's off the ground Ryan can cover a couple of centre bounces a quarter, with Miller covering back half stoppages.

Spot on

I do feel that Judson Clarke or Hugo as medi sub would have been more of a match winning type player coming on late in the game than Rossy. We lacked pace.
Yep.Ross is not the ideal sub.
Lacks pace.
If we were worried about Prestia breaking down or king hit.this year we have ample cover.
Someone with speed plz.

dimmas non selection of cumbo cost us the win

wouldve kicked 3-4
