I'm hoping we'll have the class edge in the midfield with Murphy,Stevens who have been playing fantastic.

Massive game for both sides

Deledio matches Murphy. Johnson wears Stevens.

It will come down to the next 4-5 midfielders as to who's midfield will win. :thumbsu:

I was going to vote 60+, but I understand that Ray Hall and Kent Kingsley won't be playing, so the margin will be less - probably about 20-25 points less. :)

Initially I thought it was going to be a closer game,

You said originally you thought you'd win by 60+... then you said you originally thought it would be close.

I don't think you have opinions, just random thoughts spewing out at different times of the day. Like a magic 8 ball. :D

Our next 4-6 would be:
Simpson - severely underrated
Scotland - let him roam and he'll kill you
Houlihan - had a great pre-season, can be used as a stopper
Bentick - stopage specialist
Carrazzo - stopper
Kouta - say no more

What about yours?

Richmond are simply a better team than Carlton.

Yes Carlton were fantastic in the NAB Cup, but I only base predictions after round 22, not NAB Cup form.

NAB Cup is not Home and Away footy.

As Carlton won 3 games last year and Richmond won 11, only a fool would tip Carlton.

Ha Ha Ha Ha LOL........... I'm sure it hurts to see him doing more in 4 pre-season games than his whole career at the Pies.........;)

Simmo will be majorly underdone.

Blues by 3+goals.
Meh, Bryan's shown just as much at Collingwood so far in practice matches, and Fraser is a better ruck option than anyone on Carlton's list.

Yes, I'm sure he has. Good luck with Fraser to, having to prop up the ruck AND the forward line.

Quick quiz:
Which one of Guy Richards, Nathan Buckley, and Anthony Rocca wil be the first to get a significant injury this year?

You should head to the TAB (Take Wardy with you!)
Blues $1.65 Tigers $2.10.
Put your money where your mouth is.
Blues by 45.
Fevola to kick 8 on the Gas. Blues to control the middle.

And a bigger fool would ignore an emerging team, especially a Dees supporter :D

Isn't that question moot, or haven't you been reading the papers?

Bryan looked pretty good to me at Martin Clarke Labour Park, took quite a few contested marks and impressed with his long kicking. Linked up with Shannon Cox beautifully. :)

To be perfectly honest with you I hope you're right. I liked CB and was a bit disappointed he left. Having said that Cloke has done loads more then CB ever did, and hopefully for you guys the same applies vice versa :thumbsu: .

Now back to the Tiges vs Blues.........

Notes in bold

Our next 4-6 would be:
Simpson - severely underrated (Underrated a little maybe, not severely)
Scotland - let him roam and he'll kill you (I'll raise you Joel bowden)
Houlihan - had a great pre-season, can be used as a stopper (Don't kid yourself, he's an average flanker, not bad just average so better than most on your team)
Bentick - stopage specialist (Raise you Dean Polo)
Carrazzo - stopper (A third stopper? How will you win? He's a realistic good player on this list though unlike some others)
Kouta - say no more (He's past it... it would be like me saying "Gaspar is still a gun" ...he's just not anymore okay deal with it)

What about yours?

I'm glad you didn't put Gibbs in there like you guys expected him to be a month ago ;)

Here's our midfield:

Kane Johnson - One of best taggers in the league. Will keep Stevens below 20.

Shane Tuck - Will match or do better than Stevens after Johnson is done with him.

Brett Deledio - Will have at least a similar impact to Murphy, we're even here.

Nathan Foley - better than any of your other midfielders, clearance king level with Chris Judd last year.

Greg Tivendale - Don't be fooled!! He can get 28 possies EASILY and while he will likely cost us 2 goals with turnovers he's far better than someone like Bentick or Houlihan. One of our only tacklers (will get 7-9 for the game)

Richard Tambling - In best players for prac matches every week bar one this pre season.

Cameron Howat - SKILLS SKILLS SKILLS!! This kid will get about 20 possies and his foot skills are sublime. One of the only AFL players who runs as hard as Ben Cousins or Crawf.

Nathan Brown - He'll spend nearly 50% of the match in the middle I'd think, probably a little less. Better than any midfielder you have BY FAR, when he's in there ;)

.....and last but not least if Gas does 'okay' on Fevola then Joel Bowden is not needed in the backline and can rack up 30 possessions in the midfield. I would be scared too. His disposal into our F50 would make it impossible for Richo or Schulz to have a quiet game and his 50m pin point passes or 60m goals will be the icing on the cake. I really can't see you beating us in the middle.

Kane Johnson
Brett Deledio
Nathan Foley
Shane Tuck
Dean Polo
Richard Tambling
Cam Howat
Greg Tivendale
Nathan Brown

We've got you covered for depth. The first few are pretty equal so it will take a while before we come out on top.

This is a possble centre line at some stage in the match depending on other match ups:

Troy Simmonds, Brett Deledio, Joel Bowden, Nathan Brown

Now that's class

..:

Only decent midfielder there is Deledio. Brown is an opportunistic HF. Have you ever seen Brown get a hard ball - it has never ever happened. Tambling is an ordinary forward pocket who hopes to do better in the midfield. The rest, are just plain ordinary. Most have highlighted the Tiges terrible defense as their downfall, but I think their lack of midfield depth and quality is a major problem, and could get badly exposed V Blues in round 1. The Tiges list is old, and in need of a solid rebuild at the end of 2007. The big challenge for Terry, is will he continue his spin plus Kent Kingsley like topup appraoch, or will he delisted 9-10 duds, and invest in some talent, at the expense of a few ladder positions. Interesting times ahead. :)

Tigers should win by 5-8 goals.
We had the Blues well covered in our last match-up and won with ease in the end. The Blues have got their tails up but it will only take a couple of early Tiger goals to snuff that out.
Fevola's the one to stop obviously. Bowden should be rotating with Gaspar. Bowden when the Blues have momentum and then release and switch with Gas when we get on top. Bowden can be very effective as a tight-checking defender and can hold Fev with Polak dropping into space.
The Blues are still a pretty slow team and attempts to fix that in the draft wont pay dividends for a couple of seasons. The tiges have them covered for speed and I think this is where the game will be won.

Cant get enough of you and your tigers stabbing mate :thumbsu:

Considering we got Kent for nothing, i really couldnt care less. We didnt lose anything, all we got was a half decent player in a draft nobody cares about.

And you got Cameron Cloke, i mean, you shouldnt be giving us any jibe about our pickups in the Reject Draft when you guys picked up Cloke and Hackland.

That all works well in a perfect world but the Tigers will have to cover and show respect to Fisher, Whitnall and Kennedy as well as worrying about Fevola. If we use the ball well, the Tiger defence is going to have all sort of trouble covering 4 tall options.

I was having a good reading and nodding slightly until I got to these little descriptions. Then I got to the Tivendale part and had a decent old larf:D:D:D

Yeah, a lot of those ordinary Tiges player talk-up descriptions were very funny, but the Tivendale talk-up was simply breathtaking. I'm waiting for the Trent Knobel talk-up. It'll probably start off something like "Trent might not get many (any) possessions. but no one can doubt his desire to compete and...blah blah blah." The Tiges list is in a terrible state at the moment. Must be tough being a Tiges supporter - 25 years of mediocrity, and still going backwards. When will it end. :)
