Carlton 1-30

Good first rounder. A few diehard richmond mates, always have a preety humiliating bet when these matches come around.

Carlton, forward line is performing while richmond have a lack of backline.

With Simmo out ruck wont be exposed as of usual.

Sentanta looks ready to give richo a crack, every other forward covered. I'd be interested to see how brown goes.

Midfields are preety even but Carltons mix of both potential and experience should prove too much for a young unrated Richmond midfield.
e.g johnson
foley
howat etc

Matchups to watch:

Brown vs ??? - Not sure if hes at his best after the surgery but richmond fans seem preety sure.

Richo V Sentanta - Big powers

Fev V Gasper - Absolute slaughter

Walker V Deledio - Ooooooooooh

Knobel >Hackland>Joke(oops, I meant Cloke)

I think you'll find that incredibly incorrect.

Knobel is the worst player going around at the moment. Actually, he's the 2nd worst. Ray Hall takes the honour off him.

If you line up with Knobel you are pretty much asking to lose.

BTW, thanks for taking him off our hands. Looks like Richmond's attempt to be smart and piss Carlton off sort of backfired.

:thumbsu:

Knobel is a hack, no one can 'pump his tyre's up'...hopefully Simmo plays and we won't need Knobs. But if Knobs plays, he is only against Ackland and Cloke, so its not too bad.

I think our problem will be not rating the likes of Fisher. Usually Brad and Waite have looked so dangerous against us but are yet to deliver because they've just returned from previous injuries and etc.

Fortunately for us, Waite is goin' to play CHB...I hope we play Thursfield, because he will play Brad Fisher with the respect needed...we need the Bowden's on Kennedy and co, who won't affect the game as much.

Trent Knobel - If there ever was a player to make your team look like a group of Judd's, this is it. The lack of recent hit outs is made up by a lack of any possessions on the ground. His 1 kick the other day gained 20 metres of ground, and in this day and age - that's a lot. While he isn't as good as Shane Tuck in the ruck, he is good at... surfing.

He's one Tiger player I don't give a crap about, he's more untalented than the pic of F-U.

About Ray Hall, as a CHB he is a very poor player. A few years ago he used to play wing and was actually a decent player - Geelong offered a 2nd round draft pick for him IIRC. He used to burst down the middle of the ground at incredible speeds, take bounces, and use his athleticsism (his main strength) but when he had to hold a KP he failed and his status has dropped unbelievably.

There was a time when he was 22yo that clubs were all over him trying to get him to their club.

Not necessarily. Pagan has been moving Waite into the forwardline for at least part of the 2nd half. He doesn't always stay at CHB. You guys really lack height in defence. Kennedy is about 198cm, Waite 194cm, Fisher 193cm. Thursfield is only 190cm. The Bowden's aint that tall. Gaspar is just terrible. You'll have 2-3 players on Fev, and then you need to match up Kennedy, plus Fisher or Waite. You'll struggle if the Blues young midfield get on top. If the Blues play Hartlett (196cm), he'll cause further problems for your small defence. Then you have to keep an eye on the HF flanks - likely Gibbs and Lappin or Houlihan, and the crumbing forwards - Eddie Betts and Murph. There are mismatches all over the place. The Tiges could lose this one in a blowout if they're not careful. I suspect Terry will ultraflood the Blues forward line for much of the game, like he did V Crows. The Blues have developed some nice tactics to counter ultra-flooding. If you watched the Blues V Hawks game a few weeks ago, you'd know how they did it. :)

So funny. That's almost as funny as the Tivendale talkup. Hall is a truely pathetic footballer. I only wish he was able to take the field V Blues for round 1. It really says something about the terrible state of your list, when Terry repeatedly says Ray Hall is an essential player at Tigerland. Hilarious. :)

Parrot, each and every one of your posts here decreases our chances of winning.

Sante, we didn't use one simple gameplan the whole time ala 2005, this time Pagan's mixing it up a little (well maybe not him, but Bradley and Ratten sure have the influence - maybe they will be the real coaches).

Wallace can watch it all he wants, but remember that nothing ever works out perfectly or to plan. It's going to be the matchups on the day and how the players will go that will determine the match, not Wallace analysing our NAB games.

You mean the tactic that Terry Wallace invented against Adelaide last year?

He's a brilliant man that Terry, he destroyed the flood :thumbsu:

Terry's ultraflooding of the Crows defence in that game, was probably the most extreme example of that tactic ever seen. I remember the Tiges fans booing their own team over those terrible tactics. I'm pretty sure Terry will ultraflood this game. I guess those 3, 100+ points humiliations in 2006 always concern Terry. The Tiges badly need a complete list rebuild. :)

Nice to see you surface. The Weagles Ugly Culture crisis is entertaining us all over here in the Eastern States. It's like a never ending train-wreck. Little wonder why Judd wants to return to Victoria. The Juddless Weagles are barely a top-8 side. Looking forward to the next crisis from Weagleland. :)

You idiot. They've proved themselves without Judd and more...

Carlton rely on Fev, if Fev goes down or is held to under 5 goals...you'll struggle to kick 8 for the match.

Why is it that almost all Carlton supporters are saying Richmonds backline is our weakness when Carltons is no better off?

There is Brett Thornton who is a great defender, Gaspar is pretty much of the same ability defence wise. So thats about even, Thornton probably wins that one on age and is probably a bit better than Gas.

Setanta is just as good as Bowden defence wise but his disposal is shocking whereas Bowden's is sublime hence the 2 AA's in the last two years. So Bowden wins that one.

Waite is a very inexperienced backman who will have to play on either Schulz, Richo or Browny and could get beaten to hell, we have the same sort of player in Luke McGuane playing for us who has over the preseason shown promise but coming up against Fisher or another of Carlton's forwards has the potential to end badly. About even again.

The Tiges also have Chris Newman who looks as though he didn't even hurt his leg let alone break it, there is also Andrew Raines who can be a fantastic defender as well as being able to get plenty of possesions, who else do Carlton have in their backline?

Why do Carlton think their backline is better than ours???

Carltons backline will be the obvious 4....Waite, Thornton, Walker and Setanta. Saying that Waite may play on Browny just shows you have no idea. Baffling comment. They will also use guys like Lappin and Houlihan down there for run and link.
I agree that the Tiger backline is ok, but that is because i expect Wallet to play Bowden, Raines and Lids down there. Lids is being used to often as a bank flanker for my liking. This means that your onball division will be Tuck, Johnson, Polo. (Tambling can't be mentioned as he is a dud). I would guess that Kouta, Scotland, Simpson, Bentick, Carruzo, Murphy and Stevens will take you to the cleaners.
$1.65 for Carlton is a lot better than bank interest.
For lovers of the punt. This is the Monkeyboy special of the week.
