Alex Pearce doesn't look 197cm in this pic.;)
Typical AFL.com.
Well at least it isn't a pic of SHill
Win or lose I will be happy as long as there seems to be some improvement in ball movement and play in the forward half.

Not long to go now, excited the Footy's back and been some cracking games already....I generally just watch anything that's on, get into fanatical mode.

Can this be a break out year for a number of players at the club? What have we got inside of us that can get us over the line against a strong Port side? Will Tabs start off strong and kick a bag? Can our defence hold up and our forward line shine?

I guess some those questions will be answered in just under an hour and a half. Started to get very excited now! C'mon guys....give it all you've got!!

Very tough first encounter, hard to call. But might as well start off optimistic and go from there....Freo by 19 Points ;)

Just hoping we are in it at 3/4 time. If we aren’t switched on we will be 24pts down early in the second and that will be game over.

Hamling is a big loss. Danyle I won’t go into... looking forward to seeing how Banfield goes. And if Wilson and Matera fire we are in for an exciting game.

If the following happens we will go close to winning:

Fyfe 28p 2g
McCarthy 3g
Neale 28p 2g
Walters 26p 2g
Wilson 24p (18k)
Ryan 24p (18k)

Its not so much win or lose for me but it will depend upon how competitive we are, how able we are to eliminate the skill errors. Our improvement signs.

I want to win obviously but if we give it a red hot crack and fall it wont be as bad. I just dont want us to go like lambs to the slaughter.

Billy, Ballas, Matera, Wilson, and Sonny just out practicing some goal kicking. Back in now.

It’s pretty hot over here right now, so hopefully our training conditions give us a fitness advantage. Hasn’t been as hot this summer in Adelaide.

Well if you need anymore proof Haggers reads BigFooty, he’s in the radio right now asking why D Pearce and Sutcliffe have been selected because they’re squids who can’t kick.

Beat them in the midfield and anything can happen, no Grey who kicked six on us last year is a big loss for them, reckon we just might be a chance to pinch this one but will just be happy with positive signs from our younger players and competitiveness as a team. Sandi to monster Ryder in the ruck contests and Fyfe, Neale, Mundy, Blakely, Brayshaw to beat Wines, Ebert, Rockliff, Powell-Pepper, Boak. Our biggest worry is their fantastic forward line but our defence is better than most expect, as long as our midfield produces repeat entries into our forward 50 it’ll go a long way to winning.

Freo by 8.
BoG - Neale.
Most goals - Dixon (4).
Most disposals - Neale (36).
Most tackles - Brayshaw (10).

To be fair to crumpets, that is something anybody can see without having to read BigFooty.

FOOTY's BACK BABY!! ...it's one-eyed baseless optimism season again... yay!

Freo by 18+ (...note the baseless optimism.)

Thinigs I wanna see today:

No injuries
A competitve game, an easy win, or at the very least scare the schitts out of them
Tabs adding to his tab
Moose locking horns again
The young guns giving 'em both barrels
Ballas shooting straight from the hip and the lip

...and Banfiled, Brayshaw, Wilson and Materia linking arms and dancing the Gatorade Two-Step, to the racchous strains of world's most godawful choir, singing the world's most god-dam-awful-and-god-damn-beautiful theme song, in a little over three hours time.

GO FREO!!

I'll be happy to be wrong but this will get very ugly today, I don't think we could have played a worse team first up.
