Pity the WA boys are having a snooze and letting the Vic boys in with some late goals....percentage may be the key in this carnival determining a winner

Very true mate....just not reflected so far in being touted a top 10 pick....looks like a good kid as well, good clip of him on the WAFL page, waiting and acknowledging every member of the WA team as they ran onto the ground before the start....classy act

How did any of those EF boys go mate....Sharp, Rivers, Ruscoe, Warner and the Jackson boys L & J

Sharp - He is probably the best kick in the WA side by a long way.(Maybe in the draft class) He has outstanding vision and penetration in his kicks. Has gained some lovely size and looks like an AFL footballer. BUT, my god I think he will have to work on his two way running, certainly is not the hardest working player running around. He will have to show more effort in my mind without the ball.

Rivers - Moved from the midfield and then spent plenty of time in the back half. This guy is super smart, has great positioning and spreads from a contest. Nice solid kicking action and style, certainly a class act that can play multiple positions, a huge tick for me.

Ruscoe - Was close to my surprise packet, thought he had a very good game all things considered. Solid player with a little bit of niggle, I like his love for the contest. took some good marks across the backline. (Maybe a little undersized)

Jackson J - Very hard worker, I do like him a lot, just might be a late round selection that could hit the mark but not sure if ticks enough boxes. Certainly did some smart things around the ground.

Jackson L - Seems to tap the ball to a few interesting places at times and if he is actually a ruckman, I think he needs to work on his tap work. Has a little Kruezer about him, more a robust player that is not a great tap ruckman, but around the backs and ground can be dangerous. I don't mind his vision when he has the ball in hand, but needs to develop a forward craft in my eyes.

Thoughts on the game.

Metro - As a team it felt like it was the worst structured Metro team I have seen in a long time. I always thought Metro had great team structures in previous years, but this year they lost all structure too many times. They could not deal with our small forwards and too often allowing our smalls to get behind the packs. I think if the WA smalls did not lose their feet as much, we should have smashed them by a heap more.

WA - I personally think the Metro midfield was so disappointing, even considering they're meant to have two highly touted players. Jackson * 2, O'Driscoll, Robertson, Garcia..... They smashed the Metro midfield and I think if Worrell and Jones had a better midfield unit, they could have had a good day out.
I am slightly concerned with our defensive unit, they look a little undersized and may get punished by other teams.

Bianco - Took an outstanding mark infront of the grandstand where I was sitting, but just drifted out of the game and stopped being noticed by me.
Rowell - I mean he works hard, is running a heap but I may have not seen his best effort or game. Not outstanding in my eyes.
Potter - Now this game is super interesting for me. Quick player and runs into nice areas, played midfield and backhalf a little. Just finds some nice space at times and if he did not completely shank a kick for goal, he would have certainly peaked my interest. I would love to know what his kicking is like a little more, as I did not really pay enough attention to his kicking ability.
Williams - Meh and even more meh at the moment.
Anderson - I did not mind him when he was playing.
Maginnesss - Got told to watch him before going to the game and he is certainly someone to watch moving forward. I like his work around the packs and is tidy. Thought his inside work was good and spread from the contest also nice.
Jones - Now this guy is a little personal favourite of mine. He reminds me a little of Charlie Curnow, I would certainly watch this space with this kid. Took some very solid marks, clean hands, great inside work. Very good delivery into the leading forwards as well. Not sure where he is rated, but certainly a player I would suggest people watch.
Worrell - Very nice forward, certainly the best forward by a country mile on the field. (Tall forward at least) Great leading patterns, nice kick for goal and certainly with a few big games might be in the top 15 players selected.

Metro might finish last hahaha
If
Annoyed we didn't get to see it.
hopefully

seriously, an East Freo bias is a great thing to have.

WA players

Garcia - I loved his midfield work but his height may be a little issue but certainly is around the packs and his clean hands. Loved his game and helped WA get the ball forward and have first possession.
O'Driscoll - Maybe not AFL quality but I liked his work rate and effort.
Devon Robertson - I am sorry but not sure what Rowell does that this kid does not do? Such a good inside midfield that also works his butt off and runs both ways. I watched him work his butt off without the ball and was certainly BOG for me.
Ben Johnson - LONG kick and checky kickign two goals with handoffs from players outside 50m and almost had a third try but the WA player decided to kick the ball himself.
Sharp - The best kick for WA, great vision and looks like a prototype AFL player. So many ticks there, but his work rate without the ball is lacking currently and that may hinder his draft position. Not sure if it is a fitness issue or desire issue. I would not mind placing him as a HBF like Wilson and seeing how he goes this year, he played a heap of the wing and just did not work hard enough to help his defenders. (Harsh rating considering he has top 5 potential in my eyes if he had a great work rate)
Jai Jackson - A little meat and potatos midfielder that is always in and under the packs, someone to watch out for.
Taylor - I loved this kid. Almost was a main leading forward and not really his game. I would love to see him with a Jones/Worrell forward line. I think he would have dominated that forward line. Clean hands, smart player, just needs to be a little quicker with his action at times. I think the pace of the game was quicker than he is used to.
Ruscoe - A little short but my god he has great potential. Marking, kicking and work without the ball. Played on the big tall forward and was not terrible. Certainly a watch this space for me, would not mind seeing him move up the ground during the season.
Luke Jackson - Kruezer like game in my eyes and needs to work on his tap work and forward craft to make it. Read my previous post.
Rivers - Okay, this kid is my bandwagon and whoever gets him in the draft is going to get a bargain. I just have a feeling he will somehow drift to pick 20-40 because he just solid at everything. Then in years to come all those players picked before on potential will be busts and he will be a great player. Has midfield and defensive ability. Runs hard without the ball and finds space and knows where to run. WATCH THIS SPACE!
