I'm a sucker for athleticism

Fair enough. I see him primarily as a ruck that can push forward. Is that wrong? I reckon whilst needing a mature ruck to support DeKoning and Conway (Stanley is just about done), I’m not sure we really need another young ruck.

Needs wise, I think a key forward who can pinch hit in the ruck would be what we are after. Hence Gerreyn or West might be looked at to my mind.

6th nationally in agility, 3.156 in the 20m, those numbers for a 200cm, 100kg kid who's dual sided and can roost a goal from 60m sort of stand up in the athleticism dep't or am I missing something?

Thanks for having a crack at the mock, swap out Travaglia and Reid for Lindsay and J Whitlock (next 2 picks) Oliver instead of M Whitlock (again the next pick) Gerreyn instead of Dodson and I reckon you nailed it.

4 KPP's is overkill

Who are the 4 kpps I've given Richmond?

The you think that the talls in contention to be selected on the first night are 'worthy' 1st round selections compared to previous draft years, or more of a reach this year due to FOMO?
To me there certainly isn’t any KP player that you go, “OMG!”, like a Walter or Darcy, for example. They are either aggressive but a bit small, tall but a little timid, just no one that you think is a “must get”.
North like Tauru, for example, but he’s got a caveat attached to his kicking, and seems smallish to me.
Armstrong? Beautiful kick, but is he a contested beast, or more a mark and kick type?
Shanahan looks pretty well rounded, out of all the ones I’ve seen, but again doesn’t look in same league as previous other KPF’s in drafts gone by.

Yeah they're all mostly rightfully in contention, there isn't the 'next Buddy/ Carey/ Ablest Snt' tag following any ans I think most people have been disappointed by the lack of dominance from any of them, but traits wise they're all up there with most of the recent KPP first rounders

Harry Charlson would be of interest

As a Tiger supporter i think we can address a whole pile of list shortcomings simply because players who meet those shortcomings are likely to fall at picks the picks we have.

Personally and like most of you draft guru's i keep changing and probably will right up to draft day i would go at the following with our current picks.

1/ Draper just like the look of this kid and he has both burst and sustained pace. I think i'm keeping Brisbane Honest here and Bidding on Ashcroft.

6/ Is actually the pick im not sure about Travaglia, or Lalor if either is there. I think id even bid on Lombard here.
For now lets say Travaglia. In saying this im really torn between Draper and Lalor at pick one. Im a sucker for those big fast skillfull ball winning mids.

10/ Bo Allen here for me especially if we have missed on Lalor. You miss one big fast beast and get the other.
Could probably start him across h/b and just let him build into a midfield role.

11/ One of the following three Armstrong we may get lucky but i think he will go a bit earlier. Im torn between Lindsay and Tauru lets say Lindsay for now. We need a quality wing.

18/ Hotton think he will be gone but at 18 id be prepared to take the risk coming off the injury.
In some ways he makes a decent Shai replacement

23/ Shanahan having missed Armstrong earlier.

24/ Hynes we need explosive general forwards well lets be honest we need a bit of everything just some things more than others. Harrison Oliver is one i really like but if we have Travaglia im looking at another need. Davis if he gets this far with maybe a tall like Gerryn. There are still so many here that are on the wish list.

A haul of Draper, Travaglia, Allen, Lindsay, Hotton, with tall Shanahan, and Davis/Gerryn would be a job well done.
We address a slow slow mid problem we have with quick inside out mids. We address the loss of Rioli with Travaglia and To a lesser degree we address the loss of Bolton with Hotton.

Overall midfield stocks a drastically improved. Pace is improved and we get a promising tall or two all in one draft.

Personally if I were you guys I would prioritise going for big mids at 1 and 6.

Good Small mids are easy to find and you will have chances to get them in the future. Going big now in a good draft means you won’t be in the position to have to choose size over talent in the future.

Where as if you start your rebuild like that you might

Plus if other teams need size one of the elite small mids might drop to pick 10

Actually good call. I really like Langford. He’s big but also physical. Lalor is a beast as well. They don’t come around often. Excellent.

Hey what are your thoughts on Bombres doing the deal to move out of Kako range? They had no choice? Feel like they could’ve had him and someone else.

Basically Had No Choice and Got good value. it was the only sensible/justifiable option.

Last year they traded out their 3rd and 4th picks this year so they didn’t really have any surplus points. Made trading up hard as did the extreme value teams are placing on this draft. If they’d traded up they would have found points matching a high bid for Kako hard

By trading out Essendon managed to benefit from that perception vs being held hostage by it.

Kako’s your top talent and fills a big list need. And to get him cheaply is a great outcome all things considered.

There’s also lots of younger guys on the Essendon list already needing minutes. Kako would slot in automatically at SF which is a list hole but Aside from that there isn’t much opportunity there. As Tsatas (pick 4 two years ago) has found out.

Taking advantage of the depth of the draft and taking some chances in the 40s while stockpiling future firsts and 2nds gives them a lot of flexibility moving forward wether it’s hitting the draft or trying to trade for a pre-agent next year.

In terms of someone else’s I think Smilie and Bo Allen would be the guys they’d want in that range. If they fall far enough they might trade up. Assuming No Kako bid by 12-15 28 + the right combination of 2nds and 3rds would get you pretty close I’d imagine

This turned out to be pretty on the money
