I hate embarrassing losses, just hypes up the negativity overwhelmingly.

We obviously have mental blocks against Richmond. Coupled with some tiredness of some players who should have been rested. A injury taking down our bench. Some of elder players not going great, some incredibly costly turnovers that lead to goals nearly every single time, and to cap it all off, an absolute nightmare of goalkicking woes.

For some now will be the time to lampoon certain players and decisions... I'm just glad we'll be onto the Bulldogs in 4 days.

Obviously some players will have a rest, and I think everyone is excited for McStay to come back ( absence makes the heart grow fonder huh).

Ah Chee tried super hard, Gardiner was gallant, and Big O while tired was good too. Will have a think about the other two.

Chin up lads! Onto the next match :)

(i started writing this early in the 3rd.. I want this reflection over and done with haha)

Boys looked very tired. I wonder if the chance to really get some rest into key players was missed tonight. The big test will be Saturday night. We will see what type of team they are by how they bounce back.

we do not handle pressure well and you never going to win 4-17
Play 3 young talls against the Tigers was never going to work.. Feel for Payne
Gave three votes Neale, Big O and Ah Chee who tried.

Every game we kick badly and get done on the way out
just been lucky not to have lost more then just the cats game from bad kicking before now.

No real surprises there. Got beaten by a short break and poor selections again. I'd say live and learn but seems like we have said that a few too many times - last year coming into finals and again this year. Too many inexperienced talls at one go with not enough run from the midfield.

Neale, Lyons, Gardiner, Ah Chee and Oscar were our best. All kept working hard under lot of duress.

Annoyingly Richmond are completely in our head now. Really dont think we will be able to win if we run into them in finals.

Not to make excuses but:

  • 74 games Ave experience
  • Missing 6 of our best 22
  • Down a rotation
  • First gamer on a 640 goal forward
  • 22.5 Ave age in defence
  • Crazy bad luck in front of goals - fatigue and yips a factor
  • Four day break v six day break
  • Old players clearly struggled

The perfect storm.

An apology would be ridiculous but it would be somewhat soothing for Fagan to acknowledge how much that sort of goalkicking effort really ****ing sucks for fans.

That was a really unenjoyable 2 and a bit hours.

We went for spoils early and early 2-3 spoils fell their way as goals. It was nice to see Gardiner and Andrews mark some later in the game. I think one commentator said Browny had a word with them or something.

Q3 was good effort in my view, no goals though :(.

This. Should have rested half the team tonight, we were never winning given the circumstances. I'm a huge optimist but this was a schedule loss weeks ago.

Tonight's is a prime example why you can't expect 3 game key position player in Skinner to replace a 100 game player in McStay and offer the same input. A bit bemused why Skinner is so highly rated by alot of people in this forum. That wasn't the difference, the 4 day break untimately killed us.

Ahchee to replace Rayner in the forward line, rich to come back in.
